Yesterday Audi officially unveiled the 2012 Q3 ahead of its debut in Shanghai. The Q3 will slot in below the Q5 in Audi’s crossover lineup and shares its platform with the VW Tiguan. Although Audi gave all the details for the new Q3, there wasn’t any mention about a US-spec version. Well according to Audi spokesman Brad Stertz, Audi is still deciding if the crossover will be offered in the U.S.

If the Q3 does come to the US it will compete with the Mini Countryman, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Nissan Juke and the soon to be released BMW X1. One of the main reasons why Audi should bring the Q3 here is to compete with the X1.

The Q3 is being offered with three different four-cylinder engines, although if it does come to the US the most likely engine will be the 2.0L TFSI with 211 horsepower.

Do you think Audi needs to bring this car to the U.S.? If you’re in the market for a small crossover, would you consider the Q3?
