Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid and Infiniti QX60 Hybrid are done

2016 Toyota Mirai fuel-cell vehicle can travel up to 312 miles

Toyota has announced that the upcoming 2016 Mirai fuel-cell vehicle will have a driving range of 312 miles on a single fill of hydrogen. The Mirai is also rated at an EPA estimated 67 miles MPGe.

2016 Nissan Leaf battery updates will bring a longer driving range

In an attempt to combat falling sales, Nissan has announced plans to unveil the 2016 Leaf, which is getting a midcycle update that will give it a longer driving range. The improvements to the Leaf includes a new battery that will deliver 30 kwh of power compared to the current 24 kwh battery. The more powerful battery could give the Leaf a driving range around 105-110 miles.

Next-Gen VW e-Golf could have 186 mile driving range

Volkswagen has revealed that it is developing new battery technology that will give its electric vehicles a much longer driving range than today's e-Golf. VW Chairman Martin Winterkorn recently confirmed that the new technology will bring "a quantum leap for the electric car."

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Tesla is going to introduce a crossover version of the upcoming Model 3.

Honda to revamp its green lineup: Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas are done

Honda has some big changes in store, which includes the introduction of the all-new tenth-generation Civic later this year. When the all-new Civic arrives, a few versions will not return. American Honda Motor Executive Vice President John Mendel has announced that the Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas models will be dropped when the 2016 Civic debuts.

Chevy denied "Bolt" name for new 200-mile EV

When Chevy revealed the Bolt concept earlier this year there was some immediate confusion, since the "Bolt" name sounds a lot like "Volt," but the automaker decided to stick with it anyways. Now unfortunately the Bolt name may not happens, since the US Patent and Trademark Office has denied the use of the name.

In addition to the Golf GTI Clubsport and Golf GTI Performance, VW has unveiled another Golf model - the Golf GTE Sport concept in Austria today at W├Ârthersee. Even though its name may make you think that it's just a sportier version of the Golf GTE, you'll be pleasantly surprised thanks to the concept's carbon fiber body and gullwing doors. VW says that the front of the concept previews "how the Golf GT models could develop in future."

Porsche is working on a 5 Series rival with a fuel cell powertrain

2016 Acura NSX: Acura drops more details

It's being reported that BMW is indeed working on a third model for its i sub-brand called the i5 and that it will be based on the 5 Series. The i5 will be a plug-in hybrid that is based on the long wheelbase version of the 5 Series that is currently only available in China.

In 2011 Nissan launched the first mainstream electric car, the Leaf. To much fanfare, it was introduced and went on sale right about the same time as Chevy's Volt. While not technically direct competitors, since the Leaf is a true electric vehicle and the Volt a plug-in hybrid, they engaged in a sales battle over who would win the hard earned dollars of early eco adopters. Now four years later, it appears the Leaf has won and after a week living with one, I can easily understand why.

Cadillac CT6 debuts in Shanghai with 335-hp plug-in hybrid system

Back in February, GM acknowledged that there could be some potential confusion for buyers, since the Bolt and Volt names are so close, but after conducting two studies, GM has decided to keep it.

Honda extends Fit EV leases and drops price to $199 a month

When Honda released the Fit EV in 2012, Honda announced that only 1,100 Fit EVs would be available over the following three years. Buyers could also only lease it for three years, but now that many of those original leases are now close to done, Honda has announced that it is extending the lease option for another two years.
