It seems like every automaker is finally jumping on the electric bandwagon, which will give buyers other options besides the best-selling Nissan Leaf. Luxury automakers are even throwing their hat in the ring, with BMW and Mercedes-Benz being the two latest luxury brands to enter the segment with the BMW i3 and Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive. Both the i3 and B-Class Electric Drive have similar prices and even driving ranges that are close (if you don't buy the i3 with the range extender). Which one is better?

Kia brings the Soul EV to five more states

2016 Toyota RAV4 gets new hybrid version

Toyota has announced the addition of a new hybrid to its lineup - the 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Toyota has released a teaser photo of the new RAV4 Hybrid, but all the other details are on lock until its debut at the New York Auto Show on April 2.

2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid borrows technology from the Volt

Chevy has announced that the all-new 2016 Malibu will offer a hybrid version that borrows technology from the 2016 Volt. The 2016 Malibu Hybrid will have a combined mpg rating over 45 mpg, which is higher than the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata hybrids.

2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE says goodbye to the M-Class

18 years after the M-Class SUV first hit the scene, Mercedes-Benz is now saying goodbye with the introduction of the 2016 GLE. Mercedes is mixing up the naming conventions of its SUV lineup, so now even though it doesn't look that different than the outgoing M-Class, we now have to refer to the midsize SUV as the GLE.

Honda extends Fit EV leases and drops price to $199 a month

When Honda released the Fit EV in 2012, Honda announced that only 1,100 Fit EVs would be available over the following three years. Buyers could also only lease it for three years, but now that many of those original leases are now close to done, Honda has announced that it is extending the lease option for another two years.

Tesla Model S version 6.2 eases range fears and increases safety

Tesla Motors is updating its Model S electric car with software version 6.2 to help ease drivers' worries about running out of battery charge and provide additional safety. The Model S's updated software will map out the best route to a driver's destination based on the location of charging stations. It will also warn drivers if battery power is low before they drive beyond an area where they can charge.

Audi confirms all-electric SUV in the works

2015 VW e-Golf gets a cheaper Limited trim and starts at $33,450

VW has announced the introduction of a new Limited Edition version of the all-electric e-Golf that starts at $33,450, almost $2,000 less than the SEL version. To get the price lower, the Limited version gets 16-inch steel wheels in place of aluminum-alloy wheels, halogen instead of LED headlights, cloth in place of leatherette seating surfaces, and deletion of the heat-pump system.

Mitsubishi's i-MiEV electric vehicle is returning for the 2016 model year with some much needed upgrades that will make it a bit more livable. If you were to walk into a Mitsubishi showroom today to buy the i-MiEV you'd notice that it doesn't come with simple tech gadgets like Bluetooth or even a navigation system. Thankfully those will be part of the options list when the 2016 i-MiEV arrives this spring.

Honda and Toyota part of Tokyo's plan to put 6,000 fuel-cell cars on the road by 2020

Tokyo has set a goal of putting 6,000 vehicles on the road by the 2020 Olympics, which will see the city spend up to $385 million on fuel cell vehicle subsidies and hydrogen stations.
