Last week Nissan gave us our first look at the all-new 2018 Nissan Leaf, but the new Leaf is just one of the new electric models that Nissan is working on. Nissan is also working on a new electric crossover, which will compete with other future electric crossovers, from Ford, Tesla and countless others.

“We are clearly focusing our attention on a crossover EV, because it’s our DNA.”

Nissan is going to preview its new electric crossover later this year with the Vmotion 3.0 concept. The concept will also feature three technologies that are the basis for Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility strategy: electrification, autonomous driving and on-the-go connectivity.

Nissan just unveiled the Vmotion 2.0 concept earlier this year in Detroit, which was a likely preview of the next-generation Nissan Altima. “We are now working on 3.0 for the future direction,” revealed Mamoru Aoki, Nissan’s executive design director. The Vmotion 3.0 will not only preview the design of Nissan’s new electric crossover, but instead all of Nissan’s next electric models.

“Why not try something new?” stated Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan Motor Co. global design chief. “In the future, we’re not going to have just one EV. So we’re starting to map out what is the DNA that can go across different genres.”
