Even though VW has an all-new Tiguan crossover coming this summer, VW has announced that the last-generation Tiguan will continue to be offered as the Tiguan Limited. The larger Tiguan leaves some space in VW’s crossover lineup for buyers that want something a bit smaller.

The 2018 Tiguan is 10-inches longer than the last-generation Tiguan and now offers an available third-row seat. This isn’t the first time that an automaker has sold an old model alongside an all-new one, since Nissan did something similar with the Rogue in 2014. The all-new Rogue was sold alongside the old and renamed Rogue Select.

VW will position the Tiguan Limited as the value option and it will only be available in a single trim.

“The segment is huge,” stated Jeff Ng, Tiguan product manager at Volkswagen Group of America. “There’s a broad range of price points, and we think with this new car, we can still offer the current Tiguan as Tiguan Limited for customers that are looking for different content, different size and different price.”

VW hasn’t announced the pricing for the all-new 2018 Tiguan.
