Smart For-Us Pickup Concept to Debut in Detroit

Smart’s current small two-seater ForTwo model is great for trying to fit into tiny parking spots in the city, but it’s tiny size leaves little room for anything besides you and your one friend. Well what if Smart were to make a larger model, that was still a two seater, but had more room for your stuff? Smart has just released the first sketches of its new For-Us pickup concept, which is Smart’s take on what an urban pickup should look like.

“We at smart love pick-ups – if they are small on the outside, large on the inside, very safe and extremely comfortable. With the smart for-us a petrol station is no longer required! And a storage area for the ebike is always available on board,” stated Smart CEO Dr. Annette Winkler.

Although Smart is calling the new concept a pickup truck, it’s still pretty small at only 140 inches long, 59 inches wide and 67 inches tall. It has room for two and two Smart ebikes in the back. A docking station in the cargo area also makes sure that the ebikes are fully charged.

The For-Us concept is powered by the same 74 horsepower electric setup as the ForTwo electric drive that is going to be released in the spring of 2012.
