VW is getting ready to release a successor to the CC – the Arteon. The name may be a bit weird, but the Arteon will follow in the CC”s footsteps with its coupe-like roofline with an extra dose of style thrown in to position it above the more plebeian Passat.

According to VW, the key objective for the designers and developers of the Arteon was to combine avant-garde design with a high level of versatility. While the Arteon will feature a sleeker, fastback profile, there will still be ample head and legroom for all the passengers.

From the front, the Arteon features a design that is completely different than the current VW lineup. The LED headlights and DRLs merge with the chrome-plated crossbars of the radiator grille and the hood.

VW hasn’t announced when the Arteon will be available in the U.S., but it is expected to go on sale in Europe by this summer.
