GMC has repositioned the Acadia so it will fit better between the compact Terrain and the full-size Yukon models. This means that buyers can choose from five-, six or seven-passenger versions. Overall the 2017 Acadia is about seven inches shorter than the outgoing model, with most of that length being cut between the wheels, since the wheelbase is now just over six inches shorter. It’s also 3.5-inches narrower and about four inches shorter.

Inside the 2017 Acadia offers new features, like a split-folding second-row seat that can slide and tilt forward even with a forward-facing child seat in place. The rear of the center console also features a unique pull-out storage drawer that is accessible to rear-seat passengers to store items, like electronic devices. With the third and second row seats folded, the 2017 Acadia has up to 79 cubic feet of cargo room.

Now that the 2017 Acadia is 700 pounds lighter, the base model can be powered by a new 2.5L four-cylinder, which will give it a 28 mpg highway rating on FWD models. A new 310-hp 3.6L V6 is expected to get up to 25 mpg on the highway and gives the Acadia the ability to tow up to 4,000 pounds. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2017 Acadia is going to go on sale in the spring.
