Sedans continue to lose market share thanks to the growing number of crossovers that they have to compete with. This is especially true for the midsize sedan segment and even more of a problem for full size sedans. The once popular segment now either has to compete with their midsize counterparts, who aren't that much smaller or midsize crossovers, so why are they still around? Kia has announced that new 2017 Niro hybrid has received a Guinness World Record title for consuming less fuel than any other hybrid car that has driven across the USA from coast to coast. The Kia Niro set the record by averaging 76.6 mpg over the 3,715 mile trip and only consuming 4.1 tanks of gas.

The Genesis G80 is going to get a new turbocharged G80 Sport model for the 2018 model year. Debuting this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the G80 Sport is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.3L V6 with a nice 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft. of torque.

Kia is adding a bit more sport to the Soul with the debut of the 2017 Kia Soul Exclaim, which is powered by a 201-horsepower turbocharged engine. The 2016 model year will be the last year for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. With Hyundai's move to create the new Genesis luxury brand, models, like the Hyundai Genesis sedan, coupe and Equus are all gone from under the Hyundai brand. Hybrids have been on the market over 15 years now and today they are often overshadowed by plug-in hybrids and full electric cars.
