Audi is going to unveil a new crossover concept car at the Detroit Auto Show next month, which is appropriately named the "Audi Show Car." The new show car concept is a two-door crossover that hints at Audi's new design language. Volkswagen has just announced that the e-Golf, its first fully electric vehicle to go on sale in the U.S. will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week. The 2015 e-Golf is going to arrive in the U.S. in late 2014. The e-Golf, which is based on the all-new Golf, will only be offered as a five-door, but its unique aluminum-alloy wheels and LED headlights will stand it apart from the other Golf models.

Volkswagen has replaced the aged 2.5L five-cylinder engine in the 2014 Passat with a lighter, more fuel efficient 1.8L turbocharged engine. The 1.8T engine generates 170 horsepower, which is the same as the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, but delivered at 700 fewer revs. The new engine also has seven pound-feet more torque at 184 lb-ft. than the outgoing 2.5's torque figure.

VW has that its new turbocharged engines will be a major part of its display at this year's SEMA show, which kicks off tomorrow. The all-new 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection four-cylinder EA888 TSI engines have been introduced into the lineup. The powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter has begun to replace the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, starting in the popular Jetta compact sedan, while the updated 2.0-liter powerplant received a 10 horsepower bump late in the 2013 model year, bringing total horsepower to 210. VW is also bringing the seventh-generation 2015 Golf and GTI models to the show.

Audi has unveiled the refreshed 2014 Audi A8, which gets a refreshed exterior with the new Matrix LED headlights, engine updates and new driver assistance systems. On the outside the new A8 doesn't look much different from the 2013 model, but the engine hood, grille and the front bumper have been restyled. The rear of the A8 gets redesigned LED taillights and a redesigned bumper.

Audi is celebrating the production of the 500,000th TT with a special edition TTS Competition model, which is available in both Coupe and Roadster versions. The TTS Competition comes in either Imola yellow or Nimbus gray and gets a fixed rear wing with bars in a matt aluminum-look finish. The Roadster's top is available in either Black or Gray. The 19-inch wheels feature a five-arm "Rotor" design.

VW is going to launch a more powerful diesel engine in the US that is cleaner and more efficient than the current four-cylinder diesel that is currently offered in VW and Audi models. When the new diesel arrives it will put out 150 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque.

Audi has released the pricing for the 2014 Audi RS 7, which starts at $104,900. The RS 7 is officially the most powerful RS model ever offered in the US thanks to its 560-hp twin-turbo 4.0 TFSI V8 engine that gives the RS 7 a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds and a top track speed of 174 mph.

It's been seven years since VW pulled the plug on the Phaeton luxury sedan in the US, but Automotive News is reporting that VW is going to try it again. VW reportedly wants to tap into the large luxury sedan market, so it plans on bringing back the Phaeton. "A brand as large as Volkswagen needs a halo project in the upscale segment," CEO Martin Winterkorn told Bloomberg this month, where he confirmed that the Phaeton will return to U.S. "We've seen what happens to brands that don't have that kind of project."

VW has announced the pricing of the 2014 Beetle GSR, which will start at $29,995 with a six-speed manual transmission and at $31,095 with the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. The Beetle GSR is inspired by the GSR ("Yellow Black Racer") of the 1970s with its yellow-and-black color scheme. The car has yellow/black stripes with "GSR" lettering above the side skirts and a large rear spoiler to complete the look. The GSR rides on 19-inch "Tornado" alloy wheels and also features black-painted brake calipers.

VW has announced that a new 1.8L TSI four-cylinder engine is going to replace the old 2.5L five-cylinder in the Beetle, Jetta and Passat. This new engine produces 170 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque: this is the same power as the 2.5, but the torque is improved by seven lb-ft, delivered much lower in the rev range.

Audi has released the pricing and fuel economy stats for the 2014 A6, A7 and Q5 TDI models, which will begin arriving at U.S. dealers in late Summer 2013. All three models are powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine with 240hp and 428 lb-ft. of torque. The A6 TDI and A7 TDI are both rated at 24 city/ 38 highway, while the Q5 TDI is rated at 24 city/ 31 highway.
