The all-new 2015 VW GTI is slated to arrive around this time next year, but the model that most enthusiasts are probably most excited about is the top dog of the Golf lineup, the Golf R. VW hasn't unveiled the new Golf R, but prototypes of the high-performance hatch have been zooming around the Nürburgring in Germany.

An Audi insider has revealed that the next-generation Audi Q7 will be around 800 pounds lighter than the current model. The Audi Q7 is built on the same VW platform as the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne and is built in Bratislava, Slovakia.

VW used the Wörthersee festival to unveil the Amarok Power-Pickup concept, which is powered by a 268-hp 3.0L V6 TDI engine. The Power-Pickup, based on an Amarok single cab, is designed as a rolling workshop to carry spare parts, tools and race equipment. It reaches 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds and the V6 engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and permanent 4MOTION transmission.

Here are the first official photos of the 503-hp VW Design Vision GTI concept that is debuting this week at at the Wörthersee festival. VW's designers and engineers created the race car concept specifically for the event. Based on the seventh-generation GTI, the Design Vision GTI's design team has drawn the C-pillars and sills outward as autonomous body elements, thus creating space for substantially wider front and rear tracks, as well as specially developed 20-inch wheels.

Volkswagen is reportedly working on a new carbon fiber roof option for specific performance versions of the Golf. The new carbon fiber roof will help the Golf drop around 20 pounds, which will improve its performance and fuel economy.

VW has often been criticized lately because of the fact that its turbocharged 2.0L generates a lot less horsepower than other automakers like Hyundai and Kia, which are generating a lot more power from an engine that is the same size. Although the new VW GTI's 2.0L engine can generate up to 230 horsepower with the optional performance pack, VW has upped the ante even more with a twin-turbocharged 503-hp 3.0L V6 engine.

Audi is putting the Spock of past (Leonard Nimoy) and present (Zachary Quinto) together in its latest commercial for the Audi S7.

The original VW Scirocco launched in 1974 and now 39 years and three generations later, VW is celebrating the production of the one millionth Scirocco with the new Scirocco Million special edition. The Scirocco Million is painted in "Deep Black Metallic " with an accent strip running down the center of the body. The exterior rear mirror caps are painted in "Galvanic Grey" and it rides on standard "Interlagos" 18-inch alloy wheels. The Scirocco Million edition also gets R-Line bumpers, R-Line side sills, smoked tail lights, "Million" stickers on the wings and rear windows that are 90% smoked.

VW has given the Beetle Turbo, Beetle Turbo Convertible, and the Jetta GLI models a few updates, with the most notable upgrade being the addition of the new version of VW's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The new engine makes 210 horsepower, an increase of 10 hp over the previous Gen 2 TSI engine. Peak power is generated 200 revs higher in the engine range, at 5300 rpm, and torque remains unchanged at 207 pound-feet. The Beetle Turbo coupe takes 6.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, 0.2 seconds less than the previous version: At 6.7 seconds, the Jetta GLI is a tenth faster with the manual transmission and two tenths quicker with the DSG dual-clutch automatic than the cars equipped with the Gen 2 engine.

Audi's head of R&D has confirmed that Audi is working on a new SUV that will go head to head with the Range Rover Sport. The Audi Q8 will be get coupe-like styling, but will be based on the same platform as the Q7, Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg.

Audi is going to bring a new concept version of the Audi TT to this year's Wörthersee Tour 2013, which kicks off on May 8. The Audi TT ultra quattro concept is a new lighter version of the TT, which comes in at just under 2,500 pounds and is powered by a 310-hp 2.0L TFSI engine, which catapults the concept from 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds.

VW has unveiled two new special edition versions of the small up!, the Groove up! and Rock up! that will arrive in Europe this summer. VW says that the new special edition models are designed for fans of loud music and great-looking small cars.

VW has announced the introduction of the 2013 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which will arrive in showrooms by late spring. The Passat Wolfsburg Edition slides in between the base S and the mid-level SE trims. The Passat Wolfsburg Edition adds new 16-inch alloy wheels, perforated V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, a power driver's seat, heated front seats, satellite radio, and a Media Device-Interface (MDI) with an iPod cable.

VW has unveiled the iBeetle, which is VW's first model with a new docking station and special iPhone application. At the beginning of 2014, the iPhone will interface with the VW Beetle and Beetle Convertible via a specially developed app and a docking station.

Volkswagen is giving the world a glimpse into the future design direction of its SUVs with the new CrossBlue Coupe concept that is debut this week in Shanghai. The five-seater CrossBlue Coupe concept is the second CrossBlue concept, following the larger seven-seater concept that was unveiled earlier this year in Detroit.

VW has released a preview of its new CrossBlue Coupe concept that is going to debut at the Shanghai Motor Show this weekend. The CrossBlue Coupe concept is VW's take on the growing coupe-crossover segment like the BMW X4 concept that is also debuting at the show.

The 2014 Audi R8 officially went on sale yesterday and starts at $114,900. The 2014 Audi R8 has received a few updates including an available new seven-speed S tronic transmission that improves the 0-60 mph time by 0.3 seconds on the R8 V10 Plus. New full-LED headlamp design continues to give the R8 an unmistakable presence while standing still and at speed on the road or the track.

Volkswagen has updated the small Polo with more standard equipment and the introduction of the Polo R-Line Style. The Polo BlueMotion and the Polo Match now come with rear parking sensors, cruise control and an alarm, and the Match has been renamed the Polo Match Edition, to indicate its enhanced specification. Together, the additional equipment has a value of £510, but the price for these models is increased by just £135 starting at £11,910 for the 1.2-liter 60 PS three-door.

Audi has officially unveiled the all-new 2015 Audi A3 sedan and the high-performance S3 at the New York Auto Show. This is the first time that the A3 is being offered as a sedan and it will arrive in the first quarter of 2014. Audi sees tremendous growth in the luxury entry level segment between now and 2020, so the A3 sedan is being introduced to capture as much market share as possible.

Audi is going to officially unveil the all-new 2014 Audi A3 sedan tomorrow night in New York, but Audi has given the world a preview of the new sedan on its new online channel, Audi MediaTV.

The drop top version of the Audi RS5 coupe is here and Audi has just announced the pricing for the 2013 Audi RS5 Cabriolet, which starts at $77,900. The RS5 Cabriolet is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2 liter V8 engine that produces 450 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. Equipped with the seven-speed double clutch S tronic transmission with launch control and standard quattro all-wheel drive, the RS 5 Cabriolet launches from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed limited to 174 mph.

VW has unveiled the electric e-up!, which is the automaker's first ever full electric production model. The four-seater EV is based on the VW up!, but is powered by an electric motor and has a range of 93 miles.

Currently BMW holds the top sales spot in the luxury segment, which is followed by Audi and Mercedes-Benz in the number two and three spots. Audi hopes to eventually grab the number one spot and it hopes to do so by expanding its "Q" SUV lineup. Audi CEO Rupert Stadler stated that its Q range could account for up to 40 percent of its sales by 2020, which is up from only 25 percent today.

We've already seen the new seventh generation VW Golf and GTI models, but we've yet to see the US-spec versions. VW has confirmed that the VW Golf and GTI will debut this month at the New York Auto Show as 2015 models. VW is going to bring three versions of the Golf to the show in New York.

VW has unveiled the 2014 VW Golf Variant, which is basically a wagon version of the Golf, which we should get here in the US as the Jetta SportWagen. Like the new Golf hatchback, the Variant is significantly lighter than its predecessor by 232 pounds.

The first photos of the new VW Golf Variant, which is basically what we will get here as the next Jetta SportWagen have leaked online ahead of the model's debut in Geneva later this week. The new Golf Variant is based on the seventh-generation Golf and looks pretty close to the Golf hatchback, but with a longer rear end to fit more stuff.

Audi has unveiled the Audi A3 e-tron, which is Audi's next step towards sustainable mobility. The A3 e-tron is basically a natural-gas version of the A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid that is also going to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

VW has released a sketch of its VW e-Co Motion concept, which is going to be unveiled in Geneva. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be showing the transporter concept vehicle, which features a large cargo capacity even with it is compact dimensions. It also has a 1,700 payload capacity and emits zero emissions on the road thanks to an electric drive system.

VW has announced that the all-new 2014 VW GTI is going to take the stage at the Geneva Motor Show next week. The new GTI is set to go on sale first in Europe starting this May and for the first time will be offered with with two power levels: 220 horsepower; or 230 hp with the optional performance pack.

VW has just announced that it will build the XL1 plug-in hybrid in very limited numbers. In case you need a refresher, the XL1 grabs the title of the most fuel-efficient car in the world thanks to its plug-in hybrid system that helps it get up to 313 mpg on the European cycle.

VW has taken the wraps off the new 2014 VW Golf GTD, which is based on the new seventh-generation Golf. The Golf GTD is basically a VW GTI, but its turbocharged gas engine has been swapped out for a 184-hp turbocharged diesel engine.

Audi has unveiled the new audi A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid, which is going to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. On the outside the A3 e-tron looks almost identical to the five-door A3, but under the hood its powered by a new plug-in hybrid system that according to Audi provides a glimpse "into the future of mobility as Audi is planning it."

The Audi Q3 crossover has yet to make to our shores, but Audi has unveiled the hot RS version, the 2014 RS Q3, which is the first ever RS Q model. The 2014 RS Q3 is going to debut next month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and will be powered by a 310-hp 2.5L five-cylinder turbo.

Audi has taken the wraps off the the 2014 Audi S3 Sportback, which packs 300 horsepower and reaches 0-62 mph in five seconds.

VW has announced that it will offer two limited-edition models for the GTI for the 2013 model year and the release of the 2014 Beetle Convertible R-Line.

VW has unveiled the limited-edition 2014 VW Beetle GSR, which is inspired by the 40 year old Volkswagen Beetle GSR (Gelb Schwarzer Renner or "Yellow Black Racer"), which was based on a 1303S and was instantly recognizable by its color scheme. Just 3500 units were built.

Audi has announced the pricing for the 2014 Audi A8 L TDI, which is powered by a new 3.0 liter TDI clean diesel engine. The 2014 Audi A8 L TDI Starts at $82,500.

VW has brought the VW CrossBlue concept to the 2013 Detroit Auto Show to preview its upcoming six or seven passenger SUV. The concept is based on the MQB platform and has been designed primarily for the US and Canadian markets. It measures 196.3 inches long, 79.3 inches wide and 68.2 inches tall. The concept features a 2+2+2 layout, but VW will also offer a second row bench seat on the production version, which allow it to fit up to seven passengers.

It's been reported for a while now that VW has been working on a new larger crossover with three rows of seats. This week at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, VW will preview its new seven-passenger crossover with a concept version. The new crossover will give VW a model that can effectively go head to head with other models like the Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder.

Volkswagen has announced the introduction of the "performance inspired" R-Line versions of the Tiguan and Touareg. The 2014 Tiguan R-Line and Touareg R-Line are the latest R-Line models after the new CC R-Line and recently introduced Beetle R-Line.
