DaimlerChrysler has begun taking reservations for the its Smart ForTwo car that will be available in the U.S. in 2008. Buyers can reserve either the hardtop or convertible for $99. The company has set up a reservation page were people can enter their personal information and select the car that they would like. The $99 fee does not guarantee a car. Instead it is meant to help the company figure out where to distribute the car. The money will be applied to the cost of the car if you do actually buy one, if not it is refunded.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG, which will be displayed at the New York Auto Show next month. The supercar is going to be powered by a 6.0L V12 biturbo engine that is also in the S65 AMG and SJ 65 AMG. The engine produces 612 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. It is capable of reaching 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, which is exceptional considering how heavy the car is.

In order to spark interest in the slow selling SLR McLaren, Mercedes-Benz has announced that they are going to offer a roadster version of the SLR McLaren supercar. The car is powered by supercharged 5.5L 615 horsepower AMG V8. The roadster can achieve a top speed of 207 miles per hour and 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds.

PC Magazine has listed what they feel are the vehicles with the best technology. For the second year the BMW X5 was listed as their top vehicle and took home the magazine's "Digital Drive Car of the Year" award. The X5 was picked because of its adaptive drive, spilt-screen navigation, real-time traffic reports and front and rear sonar.

For months there have been rumors and internal statements about the possible sale of Chrysler, which would result in the end of the current relationship with Daimler-Benz. The partnership that was announced in 1998 has now come to an end. Cerberus Capital Management has won the bid to take over the Chrysler group for $7.45 billion.
According to an article by BusinessWeek, ex-Chrysler chief Lee Iacocca stated that, "Daimler screwed Chrysler royally" in the nine years that it owned Chrysler. According to Iacocca the recent sale of Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management was out of desperation.

According to Motor Trend the Mercedes-Benz Ocean Drive concept car has been approved for production in the 2011 model year. The concept was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show at Detroit last January. It was based on the Mercedes S600 sedan with a 5.5L V-12 pumping out 510 horsepower.

It is rumored that Mercedes-Benz is going to unveil up to 18 different "green" vehicles this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This will include a range of diesels, hybrids, Bluetec-diesels and fuel-cell vehicles. Mercedes already provided some of the details on a new S-class hybrid that will also feature a Bluetec-diesel, that will be out by the end of the decade.

It has been rumored that Mercedes was thinking about building a high-end sports car that would compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo and Audi's upcoming V-10 powered R8 coupe. Well now spy photographers have caught what they believe to be Mercedes upcoming new sports car that will likely be named the SLC.

Mercedes-Benz has announced the pricing for the new 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class lineup. The C300 Sport Sedan will start at $31,975, the C300 Luxury Sedan will start at $33,675, and the C350 Sport Sedan will start at $37,275.

The new 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class was caught testing in Spain. Although the front end of the prototype is heavily camouflaged it is obvious that the E-Class may ditch its current round headlights for something more similar to the new C-Class and S-Class sedans.

It was reported earlier this week, that Mercedes-Benz was thinking about killing the current A-Class, but now there are rumors that Mercedes may be thinking about building a 1-Series and A3 competitor. Additionally the automaker may be in talks with BMW about using the current MINI platform for the upcoming car.

Brenda Priddy and team have caught more photos of the upcoming 2009 Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV. The GLK will share many components with the new C-Class that comes out next month in the U.S. It will be powered by a 3.5L V6 and will use Mercedes 4Matic AWD as standard. The SUV will also have the 7G-Tronic TouchShift automatic transmission.
