April's auto sales numbers have just been posted and almost every major automaker had a sales decrease last month. Even the Asian automakers that have been making headlines for their sales gains, took a hit.

According to Automotive News, Ford has hired investments banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to help with the sale of the Jaguar, Volvo and Land Rover brands.

Most of us know that the housing market and overall economy in Detroit has pretty much bottomed out because of all the automaker job cuts. Well apparently the housing market has gotten really bad that now sellers are throwing in a free car with the purchase of a house.

Earlier this week, Ford confirmed that the automaker has hired Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to sell the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Now according to recent reports, Cerberus, the firm that just bought Chrysler is also looking at the possibility of buying Jaguar and Land Rover.

Land Rover may produce a new smaller vehicle in order to reduce its fleet average carbon-dioxide emissions. In order to improve their "green rating" Land Rover CEO Geoff Polites told the Financial Times that the automaker is working on improving their current drivetrains by reducing their weight and upgrading their engine management systems.

Ford has surprised the industry by posting a net profit of $750 million for the second quarter of 2007. After seven straight quarters of being in the red, Ford has managed to come back. Well don't get excited because it wasn't from actual car sales in North America, sales dropped 9 percent last quarter.

It is being reported that Land Rover is working on a new version of the Freelander/LR2 SUV. The new version will seat 7 passengers and will be sold alongside the 5 passenger version within 18 months. The new version is being designed to keep up with increasing competition in Europe where multi-seat SUVs and wagons are on the rise.

The new Land Rover LR2 has only been on our shores since this spring, but this November there will be a new version of the LR2, the LR2 HSE.

Land Rover didn't have anything new to show at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show, but the automaker did tease us with an image of an upcoming baby Land Rover.

This past September Land Rover released a single teaser image of its upcoming concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Now one of the first official photos of the concept has been leaked.

We now have the official photos and info about the upcoming Land Rover LRX concept.

Land Rover unveiled the LRX Concept in Detroit and although the vehicle is labeled as only a concept, the automaker is going to bring a black and silver LRX to the Geneva Auto Show. The black and silver LRX Concept will be shown alongside the original white LRX.

Ford has finally announced the agreement for Tata Motors to officially take ownership of Land Rover and Jaguar.

According to AutoCar, Land Rover is working on a new 7-Seater SUV that will be released by 2012.
