Auto Express is reporting that a faster and sportier version of the Range Rover Evoque is currently in the works. Auto Express recently uncovered the plans in an interview with design director Gerry McGovern at last month's Beijing Motor Show.
"You can go too far with the Evoque, but what's so right about the car is it has what I call killer proportions," McGovern said. "For the moment, we're looking at the cabriolet and special editions - we could do a more overtly sporty one, for example."
Gerry McGovern, Director of Design, Land Rover explains: "The design of Evoque has truly captured the hearts of customers worldwide. Working with Victoria the intention was not to change the fundamental architecture and award winning design of the Range Rover Evoque. We wanted to create a Special Edition that extends its character in a new direction through understated, restrained colour and detail changes.
Land Rover calls the concept a design study that builds on the Evoque's success and reflects the automaker's expertise at identifying and leading new market segments. The concept features a fully retractable soft-top, a drop down tailgate and room for four passengers.
Land Rover hasn't announced if the concept will be produced, but positive feedback could always help.
Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern, said: "We believe that the Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. From a pure design perspective, we have used Evoque's dramatic shape to create a distinctive and highly desirable proposition."
