Sorry BMW, the last generation Z4 didn’t really excite anyone with its run of the mill styling, but the next-generation Z4 may change that. BMW has unveiled the Z4 concept today at the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach, which looks more aggressive and sculpted than the last generation. BMW describes the Z4 concept as “dynamic, progressive and an irresistible purveyor of thrills.”

From nearly every angle the Z4 concept borrows styling cues from the recent 8 Series concept and previews the next-generation Z4, which is coming sometime next year. With its low-slung styling and stretched wheelbase, the Z4 concept has the classic roadster cues. The Z4 concept’s hood is shorter than the last generation, moving the driver closer to the center of the car than before.

From the front, the Z4 concept features a sculpted shark nose and there are large Air Breathers behind the front wheels. The concept is painted in Energetic Orange frozen that is meant to accentuate the three-dimensionality of the exterior, while the concept rides on 20-inch alloy wheels with a bi-color double-spoke design.

Inside the driver’s seat, door trim panels, instrument panel and center stack are finished entirely in black. The passenger seat is finished in orange. The instrument cluster and central information display are now positioned at almost the same height and in close proximity to one another, which gives the impression of a single, cohesive unit.

BMW hasn’t revealed what will power the next Z4, but we expect it to be available with BMW’s 2.0L four-cylinder and 3.0L six-cylinder engines. An automatic and manual transmission will be offered.
