BMW hasn’t unveiled the 2018 BMW i8 yet, but according to at least one report, the 2018 i8 is going to get several upgrades. Autocar is reporting that BMW is working on a refresh for the i8, which will includes some subtle styling updates, in addition to some performance upgrades.

On the outside, the updates to the 2018 i8 will be small, with new headlights being the biggest change. There will also be restyled bumpers to keep things fresh. Inside the infotainment system will be upgraded to BMW’s latest system, which will include gesture controls. BMW is also still working on he i8 Spyder, which will get a canvas top.

Now for the performance upgrades. Autocar claims that the i8’s plug-in hybrid powertrain will get a horsepower boost to give it 420 horsepower, which is about 10 percent more than the current i8.

BMW hasn’t announced anything about the updated 2018 i8, but it will likely debut by the end of the year and go on sale in early 2018. The BMW i8 Spyder will arrive shortly after the standard i8 goes on sale.

The updated 2018 i8 will also arrive after the new, more powerful i3S iPerformance model debuts this September. The i3S will reportedly have around 20 more horsepower than the standard i3.
