Acura has announced the pricing for the first ever MDX hybrid, the 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid, which starts at $52,935. Acura is quick to point out that, that starting price is only $1,500 more than the non-hybrid MDX.

The MDX Sport Hybrid is powered by a three-motor hybrid powertrain that features a 3.0L V6 and three electric motors. At the front an electric motor is built into the 7 dual-clutch transmission and at the rear a Twin Motor Unit powers the rear wheels. The powertrain generates a total output of 321 horsepower and 289 lb-ft. of torque. With 31 horsepower more than the non-hybrid MDX, the MDX Sport Hybrid is now the most powerful Acura SUV yet.

The MDX Sport Hybrid is rated at 26/27 mpg, which is up 8 mpg in the city and 1 mpg on the highway over the non-hybrid variant.

Buyers won’t have to wait too long to get the new MDX hybrid, since deliveries start early next month.
