Honda has unveiled the all-new 2018 Odyssey at the Detroit Auto Show. While its exterior isn't a dramatic departure from the current model, its what's inside that counts here, since the new Odyssey gets a host of new features and technologies for 2018. The 2018 Odyssey gets a new versatile Magic Slide second-row seat new CabinWatch and CabinTalk technologies, a new Display Audio touchscreen, 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity and a new Rear Entertainment System with streaming video.
Starting with the new Magic Slide second row seats that slide laterally into four different positions: easy access mode, super mode, wide mode and buddy mode. Once you've figured out your passengers want to sit in the new Odyssey, there are a bunch of new tech features to keep everyone entertained, like a new display audio system with an 8-inch touchscreen, a center-mounted 10.2-inch rear entertainment system that can stream video and a Social Play list that gives every passenger on board (up to 8) the ability to upload their own music choices via their smartphones.
The driver in the new Odyssey also has new ways to stay in contact and keep watch over the rest of the passengers, thanks to CabinWatch that uses a camera to let the driver and front passenger keep tabs on passengers both day and night via the 8-inch Display Audio screen and CabinTalk that lets the driver talk to rear passengers via the rear speakers.
The 2018 Odyssey is powered by a 3.5-liter, direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM™). The 3.5L now generates 32 more horsepower at 280 and is mated to two available new transmissions - a 9-speed automatic and a new 10-speed automatic.
The 2018 Honda Odyssey is going to arrive in showrooms this spring.
