VW Golf GTI TCR is ready for the track with 330-hp

40 years after the launch of the first Golf GTI, Volkswagen has unveiled a racing version - the Golf GTI TCR. With 330 horsepower and a chassis that is about 40 centimeters wider than the production Golf, the Golf GTI TCR is ready for the race track.

The Golf GTI TCR is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 330 horsepower and 302 lb-ft. of torque that is mated to a sequential gearbox with shift paddles located on the steering wheel. The GTI TCR also gets unique 18-inch rims a large rear wing and an aerodynamic front splitter.

Also to coincide with the Golf GTI's 40th birthday, VW is going to release the most powerful production GTI ever, the Golf GTI Clubsport. It's powered by a 2.0L TFSI engine that generates 265 horsepower, but a boost function allows the driver to briefly increase the engine power by ten per cent to 290 horsepower.
