According to sources Chrysler is currently working on a new supercharged HEMI V8, code-named Hellcat for the Dodge Challenger. The 6.2L supercharged engine will give the Challenger what it needs to compete with the Camaro ZL1 and the Ford Shelby GT500.

The supercharged 6.2L V8 will be offered on at least one version of the next-generation Challenger and will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It's expected that the next Challenger will go into production in mid-2014 as a 2015 model.
