It's already been rumored, but now we have a confirmation from Walter de' Silva, design boss at VW that Audi is going to release a rival to the BMW X6.

Ever since rumors started about an Audi rival, it's been dubbed the Audi Q6, since it will slot in between Audi's Q7 and Q5 crossovers. De' Silva didn't release any details on when the new model will arrive.

De' Silva also stated that Audi is currently mulling the idea of a smaller SUV that will fit in between the Q5 and Q3. The model, most likely to be named the Q4 will go head to head with BMW's X4 that is going to arrive in 2014.
