Cadillac has officially ended production of the STS sedan at its plant in Lansing Grand River.
The death of the STS sedan will be followed by the birth of a new small Cadillac sedan, the ATS. GM spokeswoman Erin Davis said the end of STS production won't result in any layoffs. The STS and STS-V were produced at the plant since August 2004. The plant will shut down for 1 1/2 months starting next month to get things set up for the new sedan. Once production kicks off again in July, the plant will produce the CTS until the new small sedan debuts in 2012.
Cadillac is also working on a new large sedan, the XTS, which will eventually take the STS's spot in the Cadillac lineup.
