Labor disputes in South Korea can be blamed for the delay of the 2012 Hyundai Veloster. Hyundai has said today that it will begin delivering the Veloster coupe this week.

The Hyundai Veloster three-door coupe was officially unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. It features a unique coupe design with one door on the driver's side and two doors on the passenger side of the vehicle. The Veloster is powered by a 1.6L four-cyl that puts out 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft. of torque. The engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. It's also expected to get around 40 mpg on the highway. A more powerful version is also reportedly planned, with rumors circulating that a turbocharged version will generate 208 horsepower from its 1.6L engine.

Sales of the Veloster will kick off first in Europe and sales in North America will commence later this year.
