Yesterday BMW officially unveiled the 2011 1 Series M Coupe. Although BMW has yet to announce the pricing, a BMW spokesman recently told Inside Line that the coupe will start around $45,000.
BMW spokesman Thomas Plucinsky stated, "As pricing went up in the current-generation M3, the demographics skewed higher in terms of age and income. With the 1 Series M Coupe, we're hoping to give younger people a chance to get into an M car -- people in their 30s."
Plucinsky said that the 1 Series M Coupe will only have two option packages. Although the content is still being finalized one will a navigation system and the other will be an entertainment package.
The 2011 1 Series M Coupe is powered by BMWs 3.0L inline six-cylinder and puts out 335 horsepower. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. The 1 Series M Coupe reaches 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
If you really want one of these you better run over to your dealer because only 1,000 or less are destined for the US market.
