Saab Aero X Could be Produced if Spyker Buys Saab

As we all wait for GM to finally decide if there is going to be a deal with Spyker concerning the fate of Saab, Spyker has revealed some of its plans for the brand if it does indeed acquire it.

Spyker's boss, Victor Muller recently revealed to AOL that if Spyker does acquire Saab it plans to rebuild the brand around the new 9-5, the 9-4X crossover and the 9-3. The new 9-5 would be released first, in the next few months followed by the introduction of the 9-4X crossover later this year or in 2011.

Regarding the Aero X concept car, Muller stated, "I love that car, and it deserves to be built. It's got true 'Saabishness' in it. It's one of the best designs of the past five years."

We'll have to wait and see what happens. GM has officially extended the deadline for a deal for Saab to January 7th.

Saab should be left to die if this is the direction Spyker intends to take the company (and spend limited R&D funds). Would this car sell in limited numbers, yes. Would the company make a profit on this, no. The days of mass produced, but low sales volume, autos are over.....Spyker is living in the past.

Johnbo:

I've always though Saab to fit inbetween Honda/Toyota and BMW/MB. Their latest efforts are quite sad really....I guess there are too many competitors in the market and not enough people buying the products.

Trooper Bri:

Lots of cars deserve to be built. Especially if you're Chip Foose. This is not the case here.

Why don't you buy the company Vic, make Saabs people want again, turn a profit, then built the uber-cool R&D exercise.

DuDe:

I hope Saab stays afloat. They just need good management and being away from GM.

Are you people kidding? This is one of the coolest concept cars that is actually feasible to build. Go SAAB!!! I really hope Spyker brings it to life. It would definitely jump onto my wish list if I could afford it!

Let's see... the roof and doors lift up and off to open the "cockpit". The "cockpit" has about 200 degrees of uninterrupted view because of the lack of A pillars. Oh... and the turbine wheels.

Seriously people... either wake up or go back to driving your Prius and leave the cool cars to people who know cool cars.
