I like the " if you decide to reserve your Fiesta before it goes on sale Ford will throw in no charge SYNC with navigation, premium sound and a VIP customer service experience" bit.
This actually sounds like a pretty good vehicle, but what about the Focus? This thinigs price tag isnt far off from the Focus's... at all!
Nice little car!

They will probably re-design US Focus outfitting it with more "luxury" features and move it to the higher-cost segment?

on the second thought... it rather be vice-versa.

man i really like this car!! i am probably going to get the hatch, but i sure wish they were going to build the 3-door hatch here in the States!
@DuDe
they are bringing the euro focus to the US for the 2011 or 2012 model year so ya they will be making it a bit more "luxury" and another wishful thought is that Focus RS ...=] BRING IT HERE!

I'd highly doubt the RS would make it here.
There is little market, and competition for such a car.
Chevy killed the Cobalt SS and Dodge the Neon SRT-4.... you do have the STi and Evo, but they don't really compete with something like the RS.

Chevy killed the Cobalt SS because the Cobalt is at the end of its life (Cruze is do out end of next year as an '11 model) and the Dodge Caliber isn't selling at all to begin with. Dodge also messed up with the Caliber SRT4 in that they raised the price too much over the old one. 1st gen was $19,995 MSRP, Caliber is $22,995 which is what a base Camaro retails for. Full-sized icon car or ratty econ box with similar gas mileage?
As for the Cobalt SS's replacement, a lot of people inside GM want to do a Cruze SS and do it right aka replace the torsion bar with multi link and drop in an LNF with the same goodies that the Cobalt had (launch control, no lift shift). So there is a market, when done right. GTI and GLI are still around as well as MPS.

Avatar, they killed the GLI! But you make a good point he Cobalt SS was a hot seller, it was hard to find one for more than 5 months after it went on sell.

@brain
Everywhere else in the world the Rs competes with the EVO and STI just watch some comparison test on YouTube.

I wonder how much this car will be eating into the Focus sales.
Ford may have designed such a good car with this Fiesta that Ford may end up competing against itself.

It costs more than a Focus, has a less powerful engine, gets just slighly better gas mileage, not nearly as much room, not as well equipped. Yeah I can see this flying off of the showroom floors! Drop the price below 10 grand and maybe you will have some buyers.

Mark, what price are you using for your comparison, and please don't be so ignorant as to compare the base MSRP of this vs. a final price after rebates and discounts for the focus.

What are you idiots raving on about the American Focus for?
It's a POS, a mildly revamped version of the one that came out in the late 90's.
The Focus from across the pond is based on the Mazda3/Volvo platform, which is why it's rated so well over there.
The next Focus is going to be a world car, and if they don't cheapen it up to much for the USA expect it to move up in price and quality.

On another note, is this the first "Domestic" to feature a dual clutch gearbox?
No paddles though, right?

I'm going by MSRP vs MSRP. TR had the Fiesta's wrong at $13,320. It's actual MSRP is $15,200 according to Edmunds.
Also the current Focus had an all new interior, beefed up suspension, all new sheetmetal, beefier engine and better gas mileage than the previous gen. I would not call that a mild revamp. Do i need to mention it is the least expensive car you can get with SYNC?
as for the euro focus being better than the U.S. version, comparing Base model to Base model, The U.S. has a more powerful engine, is better equipped, lighter, and CHEAPER!
I think some people need to get over this "The Grass Is Greener on the Other Side Of The Pond" Mentality.

Or in Noya's case, the "fuck America" mentality.

Noya, get your facts straight. Fords global car design was a collection of efforts from around the world, not just in Europe.

Mark. Edmunds is actually the one that's incorrect, go to Fords own website, they price it as stated in this article. $13k is a reasonable price for this segment, it's probably hard to get much lower given US safety and emission requirements and not make a total POS.
What's up with Noya these days, he use to be just mildly angry about things and even be partially correct....but recently he's really gone off the deep end with hate. Hopefully he's just trying to get everyone fired up for fun.

Website fails to mention HP and TQ and all other specs, but wants you to pre-order.
It looks neat, but I would give this a year to marinate.
