Volvo has released the first official photos of the 2011 S60 that is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The all-new S60 draws many styling cues from the S60 concept and features many of the same design elements as the rest of the Volvo models. Unfortunately the suicide doors from the concept didn't make it to production, but the coupe-like roofline remains.
Volvo claims that the new S60 will drive like no other Volvo and will be safer thanks to the Pedestrian Detection system.
The 2011 Volvo S60 will enter production in early summer 2010.

PRESS RELEASE:
Sculpted to move you - first pictures of the all-new Volvo S60
Here are the first official pictures of the all-new Volvo S60 - sportier and more dynamic than any previous Volvo model.
"The all-new Volvo S60 is sculpted to move you. It looks and drives like no other Volvo before and the car's technology will help you to be safer and more confident behind the wheel," says Stephen Odell, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.
The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection - a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.
The all-new Volvo S60 is being unveiled to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in early March next year. Production of the sporty sedan model will start in early summer 2010 at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium.
"Customers in this segment want emotional appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The S60 has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest contenders around," says Stephen Odell.

The Volvo, Ford and Mazda cars have the same front end theme on their "faces" these days. I guess they had a good marketing response.

I don't hate the looks of this. (in terms of recently released 4d sedans, that's meant as a compliment.)

Yeah we used to call it a horn...
And we used to teach kids to look both ways before you cross the street...

Why, only now, does volvo come up with this really nice looking car when they were just about to be sold to some chinese company?? I never doubt volvo's quality and safety features, it has been their dull models that prevented them to sell more cars...:(

Sorry tell you but rubbish quality cars come from US, not China. And the money comes from China too, so there isn't much that makes Chinese ownership worse than US.

Excellent, Volvo finally decided to step up and fill that overpriced and uninteresting void in the market where Buick use to be. Now things are in balance again. I also hear rumors that the 2014 S60 will include a groundbreaking purchase detection system that will stop buyers from wasting their money.
@Josh: you are partially correct. Rubbish cars come from the US, made with rubbish parts produced in China, purchased with rubbish US dollars, funded by China's purchase of rubbish US treasuries using funds generated by the purchase of their rubbish products with the previously mentioned rubbish currency. The point...China and the US have a great scheme going (or have you not noticed how China locks their currency against the US), neither economy can exists without the other at this point and both have driven their markets through "smoke and mirros" of their respective reserve policies. But off point, Volvo is the radio shack of electronic stores at this point, a niche manufacture that doesn't do anything special.
