Smart and Daimler Launch cars2go in Austin, Texas

smart_fortwo_texas.jpg
Daimler has announced the start of a new pilot program in Austin, Texas, in which 200 Smart ForTwos will be available through its cars2go car sharing service.

The program will allow city employees to rent the cars for a few hours and then return them to a designated location. It's similar to Zipcar. Daimler also tested the program earlier this year in Ulm, Germany. If it's successful it will be expanded to other areas.

well since they cant sell them this might be something they had to do. could be a pretty good idea though

Brian:

At least it makes use of the desirable aspects of the Smart cars.

Note to self: Don't piss off the wildlife while driving this "car".

thetruth:

This is a horrible decision. If people realize how much they dislike the car prior to entering into a contract to purchase it how will they ever sell???

SEALBoy:

Heh... saw one of these yesterday while I was going home from campus.
