Toyota recently unveiled a concept version of its new rear-wheel-drive coupe in Tokyo. The production version that is the result of a collaboration between Toyota and Subaru is expected to go on sale some time in 2012. Toyota hasn't announced what the official name will be for the coupe, but according to Autocar, the coupe could be named the Celica.
The concept is currently badged FT-86, but the latest rumors are suggesting that Toyota is currently evaluating the Celica name since it has a long history.

Wouldn't Levin be the correct name?

@supra lover:
Based on the proposed car's powertrain, it shouldn't really be called Supra. It shouldn't really be called Celica either, but that's another story.
I'm just glad there's still appetite for doing a smallish, not-too-powerful RWD sports coupe.

Trueno or Levin would work best. I like the Trueno name better, but considering this has fixed, rather than retractable headlights the Levin name makes the most sense.
Its not a straight six with optional turbo so its not a supra. Its not FWD or AWD so its not a celica.
Hell keep the name FT-86. That actually sounds pretty cool too.

Mind you all, the Celica has always been a front-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle UNTIL its 4th generation. Hard to believe the predecessor to the FT-86 was a Corolla. Guess you can call it a Corolla Sprinter.
