VW is expected to buy a stake in Suzuki by the end of 2009 according to the German industry publication Automobilwoche report.
The publication quoted an unnamed Suzuki executive, "For Suzuki and VW this connection would be a win-win situation. Suzuki would have access to a variety of VW's technology, while Volkswagen would have a solid supporting leg in India and Southeast Asia."
VW has declined to comment, but last week VW's Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn stated that Suzuki's current product lineup would work well with VW.
There has been speculation about a tie up between the two automakers since August.

That sucks!
I have just been thinking about trading in my VW lemon for the upcoming Kizashi. I thought I might get a nice small car that was actually reliable and affordable to own. Now we will see VW crappy corporate culture of junk quality and indifference to their customers spread to yet another vendor.
My previous Suzuki outlasted my reasonably new VW by over 4:1 in terms of years and repair costs. Sad, so sad...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind an 06+ GTi or 04+ 3.2L DSG Audi TT but the reliability ratings and parts cost is...
Anyone know the cost of a new DSG or rebuild off the top of their head lol ?

I don't know about the DSG but my buddy was quoted around $8000 to replace a four year old Audi A4 CVT with about 75,000 miles on it.
Apparently he should have taken it to the landfill while it was still running to save himself the towing charge.
Rather than try out the GTi experience for yourself, why not just read about all the problems owners are posting? Sure you don't get the driving experience, but you also don't get the waiting around the shop experience!
