Chrysler to Make Ram Nameplate a Stand Alone Brand

2009_dodge_ram_logo.jpg
It's being reported that part of Chrysler's restructuring will be the creation of the Ram nameplate as a stand alone brand. The Ram nameplate would focus on trucks, SUVs and vans, which would allow the Dodge brand to become affordable performance-car brand.

Future Dodge models are expected to share components with Alfa Romeo.

Additionally Chrysler is expected to withdraw the Dodge brand from Europe. It launched in Europe in 2006.

On paper is sounds like a good idea but this means that I might see some future soccer mom drivnig a Ram Town and Country?

Sounds kinda funny to me. Good move pulling out of Europe though.

SteelCity1981:

So what does this mean Chrysler is going to have 3 diff branches now Dodge, Ram, Jeep?

Brian:

Oh I can't help but laugh when I think of combinations like:

Ram Magnum
Ram Stealth

sounds like a porn star.

Bradford:

Chrysler = Mainsteam vehicles....

Dodge = Performance Vehicles

Jeep = S.U.V's & trucks (yea, the ram too)

Yes?

THERE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE A LUXURY PRODUCT MADE BY CHRYSLER!

Bradford:

The Ram Caravan minivan

LMAO!!!!!!!!

Phil:

i'm no expert, but to me shouldn't they be trying to make everything into a smaller package to save money? i mean i can see why this would seem like a good idea, but i think thats just going to lose them money having a whole other nameplate to worry about. especially one that doesn't have a very good reputation right now

Totenglocke:

"THERE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE A LUXURY PRODUCT MADE BY CHRYSLER!"

There never was a luxury product made by Chrysler.

Andrew:

Brian can you read? Honestly can you read? Where do you see in the article that RAM will be used on anything other than trucks and vans? When did the Magnum and Stealth become trucks or vans. When the heck did they bring those nameplates back, the Stealth has been dead for years and the Magnum was discontinued!

And no, you attempt to bring humor to the forum is in bad taste!

Here is the excerpt from the article above to help you before you answer back:
