Although Aston Martin originally stated that the V12 powered Vantage would not make it to the US, Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez has stated otherwise.

Bez recently told Car and Driver, that although Aston Martin originally planned on only producing 1,000 units over its one-year life span, more could be produced. Additionally the car is going to officially come to the US as well.

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage is powered by a 510-hp 6.2L V12. It reaches 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 190 mph.

I wonder if CAFE rules don't apply unless you sell so many?

Totenglocke:

Call me old fashioned, but a Vantage with anything other than a V8 in it just sounds wrong.....

Noya:

Old fashioned!

I'm 26 and the only Vantage (before the DB7 changed Aston's designs) I recall is from a late 90's issue of Road&Track featuring UK cars doing a 0-100mph-0 competition. It was a portly beast (4000lbs+ and had a twin supercharged V8 with like 600hp).

mememe:

CAFE rules always apply, as a manufacturer you can just choose to pay the fines for not meeting the CAFE requirements. Exotic manufacturers always do this, even BMW routinely has often not met CAFE requirements.

Totenglocke:

@Noya

That would be the V8 Vantage Le Mans. I don't know if you're right on the weight (but probably not far off), but after Europe banned the V8 Aston used at the time for not being efficient enough, the last 40 V8 Vantages were souped up with twin superchargers and other modifications to give it 612 hp and 604 lb/ft of torque.

I love Aston Martins but I'm growing tired of there big engines with not-so-big HP/torque numbers and slow 0-60 times. Aren't AM's supposed to be supercars? Why is it that a 4 cylinder Lancer Evo has a faster 0-60 time and that a V10 Audi R8 has more HP with two less cylinders? It makes no sense. Like I said, I love Aston Martins but I just don't feel like they're progressing. Save for the One-77, it seems like they keep releasing the same models with the same engines over and over again.

Totenglocke:

@ l3admonky

An Aston is about the ride / beauty of the car, not just raw performance.
