Lexus just released the IS C convertible and now reports are surfacing that Lexus is working on an IS F version for release in early 2011. The IS F convertible would be powered by the same 5.0L V8 that powers the sedan version and will be aimed squarely at the BMW M3 convertible.

The SC430, which was expected to be dead soon apparently has a successor in the works. Since the hardtop convertible has been on the market for a long time, Lexus is starting with a "clean sheet of paper" and may even switch to a softtop design.

why dont they just make an IS coupe?

gilly:

It wouldnt hit the target audience they want... IS buyers are not going to be SC buyers and vice versa..

The IS is a great looking sedan, convertible...too chunky in the rear. My boss has an IS350 and it's very quick (0-60mph in 5 flat) for a $32k car with a gorgeous interior.
