Lexus is expected to unveil a new concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall and according to reports the vehicle is set to be a five-door hatchback. The hatchback is expected to be a head to head competitor with BMW's 1-series and Audi's A3.
The production version is likely to carry the 'BS' or 'CS' name and it will be powered by the same 2.4L hybrid powertrain as the HS 250 hybrid. Although it will borrow the HS powertrain it will not be built on the same platform, but it will also be front-wheel-drive.
The concept is expected to be a 90 percent match of the production model that is expected to go on sale at the end of 2010.

It's not too bad...Lexus is very rich. They normally come with some awesome cars. Papa has the young IS250, A+ quality. If It looked like this and performed anywhere near IS-F, I would much rather have this over the fugly 1 series..although I'm doubting a front wheel drive 2.4L could compete with a rear wheel drive twin turbocharged 3.0L. Too bad. Still looks like the only front wheel drive cars worth a crap around anymore for performance would be a Civic Si, or Cobalt SS. mf your right..Acura should have never killed the RSX...it was rich. And if Hyundai could've just bumped the hps on the Tiburon it would have been a good game player too.

Wow, some inteligent discussion here^^^^. May I interject?
The RSX was an impressive model and I am surprised they killed it but maybe it had to do with the economic meltdown and high fuel prices. It was a bit big but handled very well.
Its a Lexus so the quality will be tops. It looks like a Lexus which isn't that great but that doesn't matter a whole lot to that market. They are more interested in quality, technology, economy, engineering, resale.....

They should definitely go for "BS" name. That would describe it!

So a 5 door hatch...
Are those suicide doors in the rear then or is this a coupe/hatchback in the drawing?
I don't see what this is going to accomplish. I don't see people who would buy the 250 buying this instead. Maybe it's just me.

I would love it if they made it a 3 door hatch. I would be more inclined to buy it that way. The hatch is a deal maker for me as I have guitar equipment to carry around and the hatch is invaluable for me.
I was so depressed when Mazda decided not to bring the hatch version of the 6, but lucky for me I still have the previous generation hatch and it is a life saver!
I hope this is the beginning of more hatches making their way to this side of the pond. The new Mazda3 is ugly...
