GM has released the first sketches of the upcoming Chevy Agile, which is sold in South America.
The Agile, which was developed in Brazil features Chevy's trademark two-tier grille and headlights similar to the Chevy Cruze.
"The Agile goes beyond a traditional hatchback. Our task was to conduct a vehicle for a demanding client. Great design, interior space and a crossover, ie a car transpired versatility to attract customers from a different urban public or to a surfer who loves the countryside, "said Carlos Barba, General Director of GM Design Mercosur.
Production of the Agile will begin in Argentina in the next few months. The Gamma II-based B-segment hatch is also expected to be produced at GM's Lake Orion, Michigan facility since this is expected to be the next Aveo in 2011.

This sketch looks very interesting, sadly, GM has a bad reputation for creating great concepts and producing vehicles that rarely live up to expectations.
We'll see what happens to this one...

I know it takes time to retool a plant, but good god the Aveo is a piece. If this is that much better kill it now and push this thing out in 2010.
Has GM ever made a decent hatch?

"Our task was to conduct a vehicle for a demanding client."
Seems to me the US has been demanding a vehicle like this for years.
Thanks for thinking of us first GM, and not South America. So glad my tax dollars are contributing to these decisions.
From now on, i'm not going to Dunkin' Donuts for coffee. I'm simply going to swing by my local GM dealer service waiting area and help myself. Gotta get my money back from you guys somehow.
FWIW Brian, i see the word crossover. So I doubt it's going to really be as small as the Aveo.

It looks like a Dodge Caliber especially in the front.

Nice rebadged corsa you've got there. Or, if it's bigger than the corsa, nice rebadged astra you've got there...
Since when did all of the cars in a companies line up have to look the same...

@charlie
I'll start pointing my finger at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, and Acura first...

Trooper
It does say it's a B segment platform. So it's not going to be very large. Definitely smaller than the Astra.
Not saying it's going to be small.
It could be like the Fit. One review I read of the Fit recently says it dwarfs everything in its class. It's more a "B+ or B/C class" car. Perhaps thins thing is going to be the same way.
Whatever. I'm going to be done with grad school just before the new Fiesta comes to the US and I'll actually say that I'll look at it as a 30 something, not a gen Y or a teen. Only after it gets a small Ecoboost engine though. Don't think I want a 118hp car.
