The 2010 Chevy Camaro Transformers Special Edition has been unveiled today for those diehard fans.
For an extra $995 you get:
-Autobot insignia on the driver and passenger side panels, wheels and center console
-Transformers logo on driver and passenger doors' sill plates and hood rally stripes
-High-gloss black center rally stripe package
The Transformers Special Edition can be ordered as a Rally Yellow LT or SS model.

"When the first TRANSFORMERS movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the 'BUMBLEBEE' Camaro," said Karen Rafferty, product marketing director, Chevrolet. "Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time."
Features such as an EPA-rated 29 highway mpg on the V6-powered Camaro, Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and OnStar combined with TRANSFORMERS design cues add to the car's status as a 21st century sports car.

Dealers are now taking orders for this car. Customers can order the TRANSFORMERS Special Edition as either a Rally Yellow LT or SS model. The optional RS appearance package can also be added.
The V6-powered Camaro uses a 3.6L engine with variable valve timing to optimize performance and fuel economy. It is SAE-certified at 304 horsepower (227 kW) and 273 lb.-ft. of torque (370 Nm). A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the 3.6L engine; a Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic, with TAPshift control, is available.
The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission-equipped models receive the LS3 engine, SAE-certified at 426 horsepower (318 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (569 Nm). It is paired with a TR6060 six-speed transmission.
A new, L99 V-8 engine is used on automatic transmission-equipped SS models. It is based on the LS3, but also includes GM's fuel-saving Active Fuel Management feature. It is SAE-certified at 400 horsepower (298 kW) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (556 Nm). It is matched with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission that helps delivers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg on the highway.

Seeing as the 426hp LS3 only offers a .1 second advantage in reaching 60 compared to my awesome Z, I'd say I still made the right choice overall. And to truely make this a "Transformers" Edition they would have to add the very rich body kit and rims featured in the 2nd movie. That's like me slapping on some badges and logos and saying I have a Nismo!
Still an awesome car though on the outside and under the SS2 hood. Interior sucks.

I just bought my nephew a 12v battery operated ride-on toy car that resembled a Cadilac SUV. I was impressed on how far the toy companies have come. Now Chevy is going backwards making their cars like toys. What a disgrace. Whats next? Maybe a Chevy Silverado Tonka truck edition.

It's true that Camaro was aimed souly at Mustang and Challenger, but if your trying to tell me those are it's only competitors ya dum. I was considering a Camaro SS2 over my 370Z sport/touring for a while. Then I realized I was foolish...I would have sacrificed handling, gas mileage, interior features, and looks (in my opinion); all for a few tenths of a second in the 1/4mile. And remember "rice" is one letter away from "rich" =D

the only way i could see it being worth while to do this would be to make it a z-28 like bumblebee was in transformers 2... the hood and wheels and body kit, not to mention the performance difference....uh yeah, should have built it as a z-28! That is funny SilverLamboZ, since a friend of mine has a diesel truck that would rape a 350z with 500hp or Gallardo (not the LP-560 though) at the strip. Oh, and the truck is streetable too. Beauty of boost controllers and the fact you can boost a diesel to no end as long as the are built to handle it. Though the LP-560 probably isn't too far off, since he wants to get it into the 10s. Diesels are truly the ultimate sleeper.
Also, there is one Camaro I can think off of the top of my head that either of those cars wouldn't rape, a 572 Camaro. Few 4th gens around like that. Or go the easier way and just twin turbo an LS1/LS3. Like to see a 350z do over 1000hp on pump gas
Word of advice, don't open up the modding floor, because someone is always making something bigger, badder, and/or better. Guess you didn't get far enough along in school to realize that.
