A CAR Online reader (Simon Gregg) spotted the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide testing in the UK sans camouflage. The production version of the Rapide is expected to be unveiled this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show and go on sale in early 2010.
The Rapide is expected to be powered by the automaker's 6.0L V12 with approximately with 470 hp and 443 lb-ft. ot torque.
Simon Gregg had this to say about the Rapide he spotted:
'I spotted the new Aston Martin Rapide on the M4 Westbound on Friday evening. This new addition from Aston Martin is most certainly going beat the Porsche Panamera in the style stakes! It has the same aggresive look of the Vanquish from the rear and even offers the appearance of being a two-door car, rather than a four-door when viewed from certain angles.
'The interior boasts a centre console which runs all the way through to the rear seating area - a strict four seater! The facia and interior door panels share the styling found in the current DBS and V8 range. Rear access is via a Vantage-style rear hatch, which will make loading up very easy.'

Nice. Definate family resemblance, makes me wish I could afford an Aston Martin.

I still think the four door concept screws with the line of the car to much. It looks good, but not as good as their other models...

@Jeremy
It's a Renault Megane, it's kind of strange, yet it grows on you. And well it's true, French cars are kind of weird, thank goodness Renault didn't buy Chrysler, it would have been... strange. Just imagine how a Dodge/Renault Caliber would have been.
And the Aston, who needs or wants a Panamera? It's awesome. I want one. It could easily be the last car I would buy. At least until the next model appears.

yes, the ugly thing behind is a renault megane... and yes, it's weird, even compared with other french cars. I don't know why, but a few years ago, Renault developped a strange passion for fat-bottomed cars... and all their lineup became like that. their designers are under treatment now, and they start making more "normal" cars...
but you know, Fiat has already made some really ugly things in the past (google "fiat multipla")
and about this new Aston... very nice ! even with 4 doors, it still looks like a "real" Aston Martin . those guys definitely know how to draw cars...
