Saab needs to die. Who actually buys one over a BMW or MB, and to a lesser extent Volvo?
Anyone have their sales numbers for the last couple years?

@ Noya:
People will buy Saabs over MBs or BMWs for many reasons. Wait...have you OWNED a Saab??? Wait...HAVE YOU OWNED A BMW?!?!?!?! I've owned an E36 M3 and I currently have a 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero. Although I absolutely love the M3 to death, I also adore the Aero...especially when cruising on the highway. You'll know what I mean if you ever get the chance to drive/own one. Despite some of the electrical and mechanical gremlins that came with the Saab, they are few and far between....Heck, the M3 experienced more downtime than the Aero! Yes, the M3 takes corners like nobody's business, but the Aero eats up the M3 from 3rd to 4th gear. And the Aero can handle rollovers with ease. Which reminds me: Saab has a history of class-leading vehicle safety.
I also hate how so many people who drive 325 i's think they are "balling" and that they (BMW) own the streets. Saabs, on the other hand, have this look of understatedness to them that instills respect from those in the know-how.
As for MB, I've never owned or driven one, so I can't say. However, I have wealthy colleagues who can afford SLRs, but drive Aeros as well.
There's a lot to be said about Saabs...but you can't truly appreciate one until you've gone through the ups and downs of Saab ownership. Yes, Saabs have their issues, but so do Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, Mercs, Audis, etc etc. I think people who bitch about a broken water pump should drive bicycles....but bicycles still break; WALK.
And yes, I'm biased...I guess that makes me a Saab fanboy, right? Yea, and I also own an Audi R8 (used), my wife owns an Evolution IX, my step-mother owns a Jeep Cherokee, my father owns a Nissan Frontier, my youngest sister owns a Honda S2000, my brother owns a Mercury Milan, and my oldest sister owns a Ducati 1198...WAIT...WHAT?!?!?! LOL...And get this: WE'RE ASIAN-AMERICANS. Haha...there goes your Asian stereotype, right?
Case-in-point: Saabs are great cars with lots of potential, but GM went and screwed them over. Let them start again...perhaps as niche players??? Noya, you and so many others are stupid and have your heads too far up your asses if you think that the deaths of so and so auto manufacturers will make the auto industry any better. Competition fuels the cars of tomorrow.

@lotsofTRidiots:
First off, tell me about living with the R8??? I've been debating as to whether or not I should sell the GTR for one.
Secondly, I can summerize Mercedes for you with a saying my dad told me that I also find true: "You drive a BMW, you ride in a Mercedes."
Now I should caveat the Mercedes comment with the fact that I've somehow never managed to ride in / drive an AMG product, but I can safely say that the non AMG products are very luxurious, and a little disconnected to drive, but not in a bad way.

Sweden's anit-capitalism policies will never allow them to compete to the extent that consumers win. I think the new owners may take them in a new direction that will be favorable, but sans political change in their country they simply won't be able to compete with the rest of Europe. Too bad, I love the cockpit styling, never understood why so many car companies didn't put more emphasise on the driver, but things seem to be changing so that edge will disappear and I'll really have no reason to look at a Saab.

@thetruth
"Sweden's anti-capitalism policies" did a great job creating the Volvo and SAAB brands to begin with. Both brands evolved more and were far more successful than they've ever been in the hands of the GM and Ford.

Im just following up on my previous comment apparently Volvo has a small stake in Koenigsegg so effectively Volvo will also be owning a part of Saab. They might actually have a full line up here. Volvo being parent company, Saab the upscale luxury brand and Koenigsegg as the performance division!! Could be interesting in Europe if this gets anywhere no longer will European cars be moslty French Peugeots or German BMW's,MB,Audi,VW's. And yes i do know they're are other brands such as Citroen,Jaguar,Alfa and so on but when i was in Europe 2yrs ago those where the most popular vehicles i saw

Oh, and in my neck of the woods the only people who buy Saabs are hippie college professors.
