Kia World has posted the first official photos of the 2010 Kia Sorento.

The overall styling of the Sorento is in-line with the styling of the new Forte and Optima. It's more stylish than the last generation and is expected to now have room for seven passengers. The Sorento is expected to have its public debut at the Seoul Motor Show next month. In the US it will be powered by a 170 hp 2.4L 4-cyl and a 260 HP 3.8L V6.

The Sorento will most likely have its US debut at the New York Auto Show.

Bradford:

This thing looks kinda cool!

Slick lines, nice frame, sharp looks, great V-6 engine option.

To bad its a KIA

zippy:

Ugggh, KIA.
Back to the toyota article.

This overall style of cross-over vehicle is getting pretty common and boring. Everyone seems to be copying everyone. Do we need yet another model? Regardless, this looks good for this type of vehicle.

I'd take the 260hp version if I was going to buy this Kia. And that is a 99.99% chance of not happening. Kia needs to come out with a line of cars (name) that separates itself from the Kia *cheap* image, IMO.

But I would rather look/own/drive this cross-over than that awful Prius crap.

Mike:

I am glad we have something else to look at besides Toyota begging for a bailout.

Mr K:

It looks a like Hyundai. Nothing original.

waffle911:

It looks like some sort of illegitimate offspring from a pool of SAAB, Subaru, Toyota, and Lexus.

Trooper Bri:

Looks like the competition. Check.
Priced lower than the competition. Check.
Hyundai/Kia getting more and more approval from car magazines. Check.

While the world needs another 7-seater SUV/Crossover like we all need ass cancer, it'll sell. Who it hurts the most is yet to be seen.

thejester:

looks like a cheap version of a suburu forester. Kia's are crap, always have been, always will be.

looks like a cheap rip-off of a subaru forester, kias are crap, always have been, always will be.

Dan:

weren't some dealers doing a "buy one get one free" deal on these not too long ago?

Kia = Hyundai!!! wake up dude....

and Kia isnt that bad.. for the price.. ITS F-KING AWESOME....
its not a honda not a toyota but if you want it cheap & GOOD! get a kia....

Lots of ppl think kia is cheap.. but that was before.. today it should be considered really reliable....

Bradford:

Would this thing be KIA's version of the Tucan or Santa Fe?

sparky:

@ Dan,

Nah, that was your mom and sister running that special.

Mr. D:

I had a Kia some few years back. A Kia Rio to be exact and I will be honest in saying that it was the worst car that I ever owned in my life. I had only bought it because with the interest rates that they were offering it was cheaper to buy a new Kia than a used Honda.

That said; Kia has made tremendous leaps in bounds in design, build, and quality. No doubt because of the financial support of Hyundai.

My neighbor owns the Kia Sedona and has never had one single problem with it in the 3-years that he has owned it, and has nothing but praise for Kia and the dealer that services his vehicle.

One final point: Just this week I had the opportunity to test drive the new Kia Soul, and do you want to know something? Not knowing what the long-term reliability will be, the Kia Soul is an amazing vehicle.

So people, let's not put the chicken before the egg and thrash the upcoming Sorento before it even has the chance to make it to the showroom floor. Give it the benefit of a doubt because it's a good looking vehicle. Don't judge a vehicle on your perception of it's parent company! If that were the case I'd hate every GM vehicle released as soon as I saw the preview picture.

Just my 2-cents.

Yeah they used to say that about Japanese cars.
Lack of respect for the competition is how US car makers got in the position they are in today.
I wonder if the same thing will hapen to Japanese makers tomorrow.
