PRESS RELEASE:

All-new MPV Concept heads Kia line-up at Geneva

Kia will be displaying an all-new MPV concept, a range of Idle Stop & Go cars and an
innovative Hybrid at the 79th Salon International de l'Auto which opens in Geneva on 3 March. There will be a total of 18 vehicles on the Kia stand [Stand 5231, Hall 5] including three models making their first appearance in Switzerland – the Kia Soul, upgraded 2009 Kia Sportage compact SUV and upgraded, new-look 2009 Kia Magentis sedan.

Kia No 3 Concept Car
All-new, the Kia No 3 Concept Car redefines the small MPV genre by creating a beautiful car that is also fun-to-drive. The concept features a unique extended windscreen and panorama glass roof with a diagonal supporting bar, an automatic sun visor and the new 'face of Kia' displays the front grille, head lamps and brand logo in a new constellation. The 4045 mm long concept is finished in matt Titanium Grey with contrasting gloss-white accents.

Kia cee'd ISG
The new Kia cee'd ISG (Idle Stop & Go) models, which offer up to 15% fuel savings in city driving, are now on sale in many countries across Europe. Kia's innovative ISG
system automatically switches the engine off when the car is stopped in traffic and restarts the engine instantly when the driver wishes to move off. Kia cee'd ISG cars are available with a choice of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre gasoline engines and each of the three cee'd family bodystyles – five-door hatchback, five-door sporty wagon and three-door pro_cee'd. The 1.4-litre ISG models at Geneva have a 137 g/km CO2 rating.

Kia cee'd Hybrid
Kia Motors has produced a fleet of prototype Kia cee'd Hybrid cars especially for testing and evaluation in Europe. The cee'd Hybrid uses an upgraded powertrain with Kia's Gamma 1.6-litre gasoline engine, mated to a 15kW, 105 Nm AC synchronised
electric motor, a CVT transmission and the new ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system. Kia
calculates that the cee'd Hybrid accelerates to 100 kph in 11.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 185 kph. The prototype achieves fuel consumption of 4.81 litres per 100 km and a CO2 figure of 109 g/km – down 25% compared to the standard 1.6-litre gasoline cee'd.

It looks like a Smart For-Four with a body kit.

thetruth:

'innovative ISG system", golf carts have done this for decades and I think GM has had this feature avaiable for a year or two. Beneficial, yes, innovative, no. Overall, I think it's a stylish car for it's market (I'm assuming econobox). Grill seems little goofy, but it's an identifiable design que. I don't know if the cost impact of a hybrid system makes sense for low end cars, but with the 1.4/1.6 this could be a budget hit.

sparky:

They should just put the headlights on each side of the windshield and get rid of the front quarter panels, just a slope from the windshield down. Then get rid of that confused grill. Noticed zero luggage space when you have four people in the thing, which is when you need it the most.

I would fill it full of water and have a nice looking aquarium.

0-60 in 11 seconds and 114Mph max. They are right, this will be fun to drive. Wow, they are excellent in their market hype thou... What a crock.

D!:

I am the only 1 that sees the 2010 Ford Fiesta or the Chevy Beat Concept here?

Bradford:

It'll do just fine for ppl living in high populated cities.

Chmilz:

Looks good. Too bad it'll have a standard roof/windshield on the production model to keep costs low... An autodimming glass roof that seamlessly connected to the windshield would be a cool feature, until a rock forced a $2000 windshield/roof replacement.

"Noticed zero luggage space when you have four people in the thing, which is when you need it the most."
@sparky

Have you heard the word "limitations" and "adjustment".
If a person thinks he must tow 4 people along with their luggage everyday, he should get a better paying job n buy a Ford F350.

IMHO its a solid design and wud work for a lot of singles and students with just in town driving. You don't need a 4L engine to go to walmart man.

And who cares if its "FUN" to drive, as long as it has good mileage and trouble free atleast 4-5 years.

Learn to live within means.

Joan of Arc:

Fun can be more than straight line speed... goodness, when will people learn?

This car is not intended for those who are wanting to upgrade from their 1987 Ford Mustang to the new 800hp Minivan that can seat 12 as well as their luggage. You will compromise, no matter what you buy.

This car is meant to be a modestly fun, economical car for those who see a car as an appliance, a method of transportation. Obviously, there are better cars that can turn quicker, or shoot to 100+mph quicker, but hey, if you're buying this, you could care less.

Not everyone needs a half-thousand horsepower motor or a vehicle close to the size of a tank to feel indowed. Seriously... I bet the people who buy these make fun of much more expensive cars, like the Chrysler 300 who people love to place those fake vents on.

You know...I only know of one particular group of people who fall into that fake vent category...

But I can't say which group cause that's not politically correct now is it....

Bradford:

... and their the same group that gets that 300C and puts 24''s on it and the fake stick on chrome between the front and rear passenger side windows...

- its about as bad as lifting a 4x2 pickup...
- putting dual racing stripes down the middle of a V-6 Mustang...
- buying a base work truck and putting massive chrome rims on it...

But hey, everybody has their own since of "style" right? Haha

It's what makes the world go round!
