SEALBoy:

Still no clear shot of the rear...

Noya:

And this is the car that all the rednecks claim is going to propel Ford to the promised land? Pass the meth foil...

sparky:

Looks like this car is designed well for the market it is intended for. Medium price, good quality, reasonable design, a nice interior.

Oh, ya, if this was a lesux, the ricers would be celebrating... But then, it would cost $50k instead.

Peter:

I'll take a used one in two years for $5000

Saheed:

Pictures of the rear can be found on Autoblog. Anyway, I am just waiting for Noya to try and find something negative to say about the new Taurus. Besides the rear end, this thing is gorgeous! Ford has really improved on their styling and level of quality, now that they are finally listening to what us Americans want. The Fusion/Millan, Lincoln MKS, and the '09 F-150 all show the best of what Ford has to offer, and I am really proud of them.

:(Although, I really mis the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis):

SteelCity1981:

Noya, you should be banned from posting in here, because every time someone reads your post they waste time off their life that they will never be able to get back.

GRIZZ:

Noya = Narcissist. Go google it Noya.

The back of the car is fine. I'm not sure what you all want in design for the rear of a car. There are good shot of the rear at other sites.

Something else to notice is that the new Fords are holding their value better. Used 500's and newer Taurus's are priced pretty high. One reason is that there are few of them on the market. People are keeping them because they are great cars.

Sandman:

Noya - the internet isn't the best place to air your dirty laundry. Put the meth foil down and get some real help. You seriously need it.

Trooper Bri:

Noya is too busy trying to find someone to split the cost of used "racing" Miata to Google that GRIZZ.

Just do what his parents did. Ignore him.

cobaltssman:

noya is the new CKV

if anyone remembers her/him? got rid of him/her but i was forced to post under another name :[

gilly:

Hey everyone:

@ Gilly: Thanks for the links. Wonder why the official pics don't include a rear view. It's not nearly so bad as I was fearing, due to the lack of official shots of it. Curious.

All in all, I think the new Taurus looks alright. The pics show lots of chrome trim around lights and windows, which are likely (given past experience) to sag out of alignment and quickly look tacky. However, the overall lines are sound. For it's demographic is should succeed, unless there's some unknown caveat hiding under it's skin somewhere.

Overall thumbs up from me.

JB:

I hope they have improved the quality. I have had both a 2001 and 2004 taurus as company cars (and I got the 2004 brand new). The build quality on those was hideous and the fuel mileage was pathetic.

And how Ford handled a recall on the 2001 was embarassing to the entire American auto industry. Got the noctice that due to some faulty paint/coating on the front coil springs, the springs could corrode and possibly break, then the resulting sharp edges could contact the tire and cause a blowout. I'm thinking, "Ok, Ford is going to install new coils on these cars." Nope, the recall was to put a shield in place so that WHEN the coil broke, it couldn't damage the tire. Ridiculous.

426Hemi:

@coballtssman

Yeah, I remember CKV. Thanks to that bitch I also had to chang my name. (When I first posted on this site I went by Tommy Boy.)

Saheed:

@JB

Wow, that sucks... only Ford (even as much as I love them)!

@426HEMI

any chance u know wat CKV stands for?

For the record, the '05 Taurus was great with it's design inside and out, not to mention a pretty good price tag. mpg was just satifactory.

Wonder why they never sold well (exept as rentals, which is how I fell in love with it when my dad rented it for a business trip).

John Campi:

I think Ford could have a winner with this new Taurus, but the price should start in the low $20's. The styling is nicely done, but quality would still concern me. They can tout their improvement in quality and maintain they equal Honda and Toyota, but they have to prove it with the public and address the perception issue.

426Hemi:

@Saheed

"Any chance you know what CKV stands for?"

Not a clue.
