Detroit 09': Chevy Spark and Orlando Headed to the US

2010_chevrolet_spark_.jpg
GM originally stated that the production version of the Chevy Beat and Chevy Orlando would not be coming to the US, but things change. With a lack of small cars in the US, it makes sense to bring the two vehicles to the US.

The production version of the Beat, officially now dubbed the Spark and the Orlando will come to the US in 2011. The Chevy Spark is going to have its official debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the Spark in Europe will begin in the first-quarter of 2010.

The one photo we have of the Spark was apparently leaked. Expect more details soon.

SteelCity1981:

WTF are up with those headlights?

GRIZZ:

The Fiesta and the Kuga are gonna eat their lunch.

Brian:

Oh, oh!

Can we power it with that 1.6L piece of shiz Korean engine you have....

How da F, do you go from designing the Converj to this?

This was like the prototype for the Aveo, the one that was placed in the reject pile...

Remyj:

If that little green car had a Toyota or VW grill on it you all would be singing it praises and be putting down payments on one. They show a new car up there with a Chevy grill and you fall all over yourselves spewing venom at it. As far as the head lights go, yeah, they are kinda long but so are the ones on the new Fiesta, the Mazda 6, and the Nissan Maxima. I didn't hear you all complaining when those cars were put on display for the first time.

@Remyj

I wish TR would photoshop all american cars to substitute the logo's with jap-car one's instead. Then, after all the posts of prase and love from the jap-car-lovers, swap them back. ha.

What I'm afraid of is that American car's start looking to much like jap-car designs. Then, all cars will be boring lesux (any toyota) or Nissan designs. Can you imagine the Ford Flex as a Nissan Cube? gag.

jay:

You people would be all over this car if it had a yaris plate. I mean are you trying to tell me the yaris looks better than this thing?
Your not American if your driving a Japanese car. Your a poser.

SteelCity1981:

@ Jay,

First off all take your foot out of your mouth. That car is flat out ugly. I dont' care what name brand you put on that car, the car is ugly and the Yaris is right behind it in ugly cars.

Second of all just because you drive a japanese car you are all of a sudden a poser? LOL, that makes no sense what so ever. I would rather pick a quality car over a car that's going to break down a lot more often. Enjoy saying while you are sitting on the side of the road waiting for your car to get towed to the shop, because american cars for the longest time were like that.

"because american cars for the longest time were like that."

Many models had a rough time in the past, but many new models offered today have improved a great deal and now getting equal, and in some lines, better ratings than their foreign competition. Your argument will hopefully be a thing of the past as soon as the past reputation fades. If you look back, Toyota and other foreign cars had major issues with rust, interior's falling apart and overall cheap build as well. I owned a few of them. How soon we forgive the foreign cars, let's see if we are as generous with American cars.

As a poser goes, I reserve that for the Hummer, any Lesux car, and the Prius.

"Your argument will hopefully be a thing of the past"

The key word is "hope"
