2010 Hyundai Equus Sketches Unveiled

Hyundai has released two official sketches of its 2010 Equus sedan. The Equus is a large luxury sedan that is sold in South Korea, Europe, China and the Middle East.

The 2010 Equus is expected to be powered by either a 420 horsepower 5.0L Tau V8 or a 4.6L Tau V8. Both engines will put the power to the ground via the rear wheels. Hyundai's new eight-speed automatic transmission is also expected to be offered.

The next-generation Equus is expected to also feature a Lane Departure Warning System, Pre-Safety Seatbelt System, and LED-equipped headlights and taillights.

The 2010 Hyundai Equus is expected in South Korean dealerships next month. Don't expect it to hit U.S. shores anytime soon, since it could cannibalize Genesis sales.

I'm a fan of that grill/hood design. Definately a Lexus vibe to it, but that's not all bad. It's almost weird that Hyundai is coming out with such, dare I say, cool cars. But, with the way the domestics are going right now, more power to them; they may be able to turn their stereotypes around during this otherwise automotive slump.

BigO:

I agree, I've never EVER been a hyundai fan, to the point of laughing when people tell me they drive one, but whoever is sending the new designs through is doing a nice job.

Gary:

The've got a nice looking luxo cruiser there, a working mans 7 series. Hyundai has surpassed 2 of the Big 3 in design and quality IMO. Ford still has a bunch of good looking cars/suvs in their lineup and has about equal quality to Toyota/Honda.

I wonder how Hyundai can be releasing a bunch of RWD V8/V6 coupes and sedans when all the other manufacturers are pulling sport models and anything with a big engine. Hopefully they can keep it up, they're either going to look really smart or really dumb in a few years. Only time will tell.

Dan M :

It looks like a car you would find in a GTA game. A CL-G35-Accord coupe.

If cars had orgies, this would be the result.

Rx-7 Guy:

Not a bad looking car. I'll go as far as saying it's better looking than anything else out Asian with 4 doors.

@Gary Come on man Ford doesn't compete equally the Honda or Toyota except maybe with their trucks. Ford still has piss poor quality with panel gaps I could stick my cell phone through. The only thing that separates them from the others is the still have some cash in the bank.

Gary:

@RX-7 Guy:

Come on man, who doesn't like more spots to store stuff? :)

I'll agree that Ford has some work to do still. But all in all those gaps will stay the same width and the car will keep running for a long time.

Cashmoney:

How is it that this car is supposed to go on sale in a month and all we can get are some early concept sketches?

vtfo0lio:

I like the hood design but not so much the grill. Not a fan of the grill on the genesis either. That ass end and the side profile is the sick though.

426Hemi:

Hopefully the only change they make will be small rims.

426Hemi:

Sorry; smaller rims.
