VW was set to debut its upcoming mid-engine roadster at the LA Auto Show in a little over a week, but has decided to push back its unveiling until January at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
VW hopes to attract more interest for the roadster at the show in Detroit. The final details are pretty scarce. It is expected that the car will debut in 2011, but it is not known what 4-cylinder engine that VW will use.
Stay tuned..

Well if they are going to use a 4-cyl, they'd be crazy not to use the 2.0 turbo...
I don't hate the front, but would like to see a picture from the back. I like coupes, but it's just something about most roadsters that doesn't really do it for me.

Ah, yes. Because those two shows are mutually exclusive.

It's only one picture, but it kind of strikes me as a poor-man's Boxster shape-wise. Though, not knowing the pricing, I could be wrong on the 'poor man' tag.
If the look stays the same, and the engine is zippy with good MPG, it could draw a nice crowd from the suddenly-aware, environment-friendly crowd in the aging baby boomers. I can also see it being popular with a younger crowd, but I guess it depends on which crowd gets to it first. =P

Can you find the IPOD adapter between the two seat speakers? Nice boom box design. I think you can see the LEGO pegs under the front bumper too..

Any idea what pricing area this is targeted at? It's pretty, but it could be up against some stiff and well established competition.

Not bad, not bad at all.
Now only if it can get past the stigma of spending half its life in the service department.

Looks pretty sleek IMO. A nice competitor for the Solstice/Sky as well.

OMG, the style and design is fantastic. I can never believe how some of use respond to cars at this site. My hat is off to VW for this concept. They did a great job and just need to commit to a production model now.

That is slick!!
The 2.0 turbo with a DSG...looks like a winner.
Now, where's the coupe version?

It looks kinda like chic version of the Porsche Carrera GT. Not saying it's a bad thing. Black it out and I'd park one in my garage
