Nissan has officially unveiled the 2009 Nissan 370Z ahead of its official unveiling at the LA Auto Show in a few weeks.
Although Nissan has released three photos of the new Z, official specs have not been released. All that we know right now is that it is powered by the same 3.7L V6 as the Infiniti G37.
Stay tuned.

Looks just like a 350Z with some new lights. Then again, I suppose it is simply a 350Z update.

The overall shape looks to me like it harkens back to the overall shape of the 280Z. Not that it's a bad thing, just seems like Nissan's version of "retro", I guess.

From a couple of other car sites/magazines, this Z is supposed to be significantly smaller than the 350Z. I believe it was said that it should be 6 inches shorter, and about 300 lbs lighter.
While I can't remember if it is a different chassis or not, a bump to 350 hp (a guess that they'll find a few more hp from the 330 hp the 3.7 makes in the G37) and a 300 lb curb weight reduction, should put this thing into a very high price/performance catagory.

The front does look pretty good, but side and rear profile look better on the Genesis Coupe IMO. Too bad the Genesis coupe is reported to run 0-60 in like 6.3 seconds with a similar V6 instead of the 5.X that Hyundai was talking about...
@426Hemi:
Lol, you're right.

Looks like a cross between the 280 and Porsche. Personally I think it's step in the wrong direction it looked much better before.

They took the worst new Maxima feature (the wrap around headlights) and added it to both the headlights and taillights. I sincerely hope that Nissan won't do this to every new car they release. If it is in fact 300 lbs lighter, which I also read on a previous article from TR, then this would make for a pretty compelling sports car. There have been uglier desirable cars in the past.

massive fail. among other things, the boomerang definitely needs to go. not that i was a huge fan to begin with but bring back the last gen Z!

I hate how Nissan is designing their headlights lately. It looks like when someone was designing them they accidently slipped their hand.

looks far to 'computer-designed' to me. i don't get the feeling that a human hand was in any way involved in it's design

Funny. I'm liking the 'boomerangs.' In fact, I'm liking just about all of it's looks, except maybe the door handles (too bulky) and yah, I agree the headlights seem overwrought.
But over all, I find it attractive. Plus, by shedding 300lbs, it promises to be a good drive.
Now, how much will it cost?

I like it. Big fender flares and muscular curves... 300 lbs lighter with more power. It should be a fun car!

Wonder if this will eat rubber like my '08 350Z? And I can't set the camber so it won't (without spending bucks). And I can't hop up the engine without the computer getting in my britches. And I raise the hood and see plastic covers all over the place. I indexed the spark plugs the other day, took an hour and a half (but it returned 2mpg improvement), something I could have done with a 'real' car in 15 minutes.
My 350Z looks like it came out of a d@mn video game. I'll admit, it handles like a big go-kart and returns 29mpg on the highway with the air on. The radio sounds like an enlarged version of a boom box. But I should count my blessings that I own one.....right??? (wow, I could've had a V 8!)

I think it looks great- a step in the right direction.
The interior is a massive improvement over the 2008 model. A friend of mine has one and it's interior is a huge let down...as in it should look/feel like an Acuras it's much more like a Cobalts.
Add to that the 370z is going to be 6+ shorter, weigh in around 3,000 lbs. and have 350hp...it's going to be a screamer that'll supposedly give a Porsche Cayman S a run for it's money.

the interior is really nice looking. I miss the big after-market whale tails people would add to the 280z's in the late 80's.

i still like the 350Z style.
but the 300lbs weight reduction and bigger engine is truly a big welcome for this bang for the buck sports car.

I think the reason the interior used to be shit was because if it was any nicer it would compete too much with the G35. But now that they put it on a diet and chopped the end off, assuming they don't do the same to the G37 coupe, it should be different enough to allow a decent interior.

Wine wine wine. I've owned a 280z, 280zx (x3) and I think the 370z is a sweet looking ride. looking forward to owning one someday.

Wow, I didn't know when I blow by most people, there were so many losers hating on my 2010 370Z. I love it when the LOSER'sare trying not to look and the guy's girlfriend smiles at how ugly the car is.
