Chrysler Offers Employee Discount Pricing to Wal-Mart Employees

Chrysler's sales have dropped 25 percent this year, so the automaker is looking for creative ways to boost its sales. Starting on Nov 1st, Chrysler will offer employee discount pricing to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. workers.

All US-based Wal-Mart employees are eligible for the program. According to Curtrise Garner, a Chrysler spokeswoman, "Wal-Mart is one of our largest fleet customers." The savings will range from 4% to 6% off invoice or 8% to 14% off MSRP, which is identical to the discount that Chrysler employees and their families currently receive.

Wal-Mart currently has 1.4 million employees.

In addition to the Wal-Mart employee discount, Chrysler also announced that Chrysler employees can now get employee discount pricing on some Dodge Viper models.

Chrysler's U.S. sales have fallen at twice the rate of the industry average.

Joan of Arc:

Pimp out that Wal-Mart Security with Dodge Vipers... I'm tired of seeing rusty old Kias pretending to protect the parking lot.

Anyway, it's a good idea, but I doubt a good chunk of those 1.4 million employees could afford a brand new Chrysler.

Brian:

@ Joan

Oh how incorrect you are. While most Wally World employees can not afford a new Chrysler, it doesn't mean they won't finance the living crap out of one. I work somewhere you see lots of different cars. A few people (and not upper management) have cars over 50k. I'll just say either they are flat broke every month, or they have certain recreational hobbies on the side...

lowest iq:

Great, destroy one great american icon with another. I hope the Walmarters arent that stupid!

Better still, offer the republican voters Walmart pricing on a Chrysler.

dean:

Sell them for what they are really worth (50% off invoice) and I MIGHT consider buying one.

rubix_1011:

Can't you already buy them off the WalMart shelves as it is? I think they might be over there by lawn mowers and the 'crap-to-pimp-out-your-trailer-park-hoopty-mobile' aisle full of cigarette lighter-plug interior lighting and design and the chrome trimmed (plastic) license plate frames with "Pimped Out" written on them.

Anyone need a set of anondized foot pedals that say "racer" on them for their new Neon?

@rudix_1011

That's funny, I happen to fined all that same shit on every Civic I pass by as well.

Noya:

LMAO

BMW335iRulez:

I don't think any banks are willing to finance cars these days...

Trooper Bri:

Not sure how to read into this offer. Does this mean Chrysler isn't completely desperate yet ? Just offering employee pricing to a cheap department store chain doesn't make sense. I mean, right off the bat you can scratch the greeters off the potential buyer list.

Maybe it's time to turn on all the bilge pumps and really try keeping the boat afloat. Offer employee pricing to anyone and everyone that will buy your product for the rest of the year.

Chevy and Ford pretty much got the message, and at least have starting releasing attractive vehicles again and have more in the pipelines for the next 2 or 3 years. Most being drawn from global platforms used outside America.
Poor Chrysler doesn't have the same pool to pick from, and i just don't see anything close to a winner up and coming from them. Hard to believe that not too long ago people were lining up to pay at least 5 thousand over sticker to get a PT Cruiser.

Josh:

Chrysler is dead in the water, offering discounts to Wal-Mart employees versus offering them to the entire globe. They need to fall off the face of the planet, good riddance.
