Photos of Audi's newest concept the Audi A1 Sportback Concept have hit the web a day before its official unveiling in Europe.

The A1, which is smaller than the current A3 in Audi's lineup is going to go head to head with the MINI when it is released in Europe next year. The production model is expected to look very close to this concept. The A1 Sportback Concept is powered by a 150-horsepower 1.4L TSI engine mated up to a 27-horsepower electric motor. The engine is mated to Audi's S-Tronic dual clutch transmission. The concept also gets an estimated 60.3 mpg.

Expect more details soon.

i'm definitely buying this when my GTI craps out... which may be a while

JoePDX:

Ugliest interior/dash/console I've seen in a long time.

JD:

The console looks just plane hostile.
The red accents and the ugliness lol. Exterior is sweet looking, but the interior looks like that of a completely different make and model.

Jung:

Concept != Reality

:/ :

whats with the plastic see through thing on the grille? perhaps they are hinting at shrinking that gaping hole in the front?

Trey:

Exterior looks great. but i really cant get over how bad that dash is. i dont know what they were high on when they made that but it aint working for them

eroto:

Reminds me of the Lancer sportsback.

Joan of Arc:

Calm down. It's a concept. It isn't going to look anything like this.

I know the MINI Cooper S and John Cooper Works are very capable cars, especially in the twisties, but you can't just say it is competing with it. The MINI is a "cute" car, and its form-over-function interior is infamous. I drive a Cooper S, by the way.

This car does look pretty slick, but it will not eat away at the MINIs sales. But if it feels like one, I wouldn't mind getting this Audi... hopefully the interior is up to snuff.

Alex Greene:

Audi always seem to get the design right. I agree that interior looks crappy in this concept though, hopefully it will change closer to production time. Looks very sleek on the outside and could be an excellent car if priced right. A diesel option would be simply awesome, but I don't hold my breath.

lowest iq:

yeah, i'll have one too: mine with a 3 Cyl TDI-Hybrid. CVT. Thats the way to go.

No need for all the gaudy finishings, just give it to me 3k cheaper.

Or for that money, stick solars on the roof.

Or reverse charging, so it can run off my I-pod.

Asdf:

Wow, it's a Lancer!
