Lexus has unveiled the 2010 Lexus IS 250C at the Paris Motor Show.

Lexus took its popular IS sedan and chopped off the roof and two doors to create the IS 250C. The newest Lexus convertible features an aluminum folding roof that takes just 20 seconds to open. The IS 250C is powered by the same 2.5L V6 as the sedan.

Europe will get the new IS 250C first in the summer of 2009 and the US will get it shortly thereafter.

PRESS RELEASE:

IS 250C – World Premiere

Making its world debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the new IS 250C combines the sporting elegance of the IS sedan with superlative engineering ingenuity to create a unique fusion of top-down driving pleasure and uncompromised closed-top dynamic performance in the premium sedan segment. Its lightweight, aluminium folding roof structure boasts the fastest three-part roof opening time of just 20 seconds. Through the remarkably compact packaging of its roof mechanism, the IS 250C offers a large boot space, generous rear seat access and spacious rear passenger accommodation.

Sharing the IS 250's 153kW/208DIN hp, 2.5 litre ultra-smooth V6 powerplant and 6-speed automatic transmission, the new Lexus convertible has been styled to offer minimal wind turbulence when driving with the hard top stowed. The enhanced torsional stiffness of the IS 250C design promotes ride comfort appropriate to the marque and, in coupe configuration, reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics on a par with those of the IS sedan.

maybe its me but the car doesnt look that good. that slab siding of it along with that trunk and what seems like extra overhang past the rear wheel makes the cat lok chunky. from the from bumper cover to the top of the windshield it looks good. maybe they are aiming for the camry solara market since that car is going away soon.

Cashmoney:

I own an IS350 and I would love to see Lexus comeout with a 2 door IS hardtop(not a hard softop). Personally I don't like most convertibles(even 335) and so this car to me looks much more tacky and Solaraish than the regular IS.

The photoshops on the net of the IS coupe on the other hand make it look fantastic. Hopefully Lexus will follow through with that as well.

Its not offensive. Its also not stunning. So I guess it looks ok. The styling mishaps seem to be contained in the interior.

I just want to know who the genius was who took all the leather encased goodness and then decided to put in imitation marble slab around the gear shift and chrome foot peddles. What an eye sore.

sparky:

Wonder when the hard top is down it will take up most of the trunk space. So, can the golf clubs fit with the top down? Forget a couple of suit cases for a weekend trip...

The marble? yuk. Looks like cheap formica, something from home depo on sale you can find by the front door.

If you didn't notice, the picture of the trunk open is with the top down. They have a golf bag in the trunk to show you it'll fit. Suitcases? Now you're dreaming...

Bill:

surprisingly dull

the big slabs of shapeless metal that run down the sides aren't helping

DatMan:

Looking closer to the pic, the top is down with the golf clubs in - my bad..

Now, to find luggage shaped like a golf bag...
