Audi has recently confirmed that the US will not receive the 2009 Audi RS6 due to fuel economy and emissions requirements in the US....lame!
“We had thought perhaps that it would be possible, given America’s preference for the four-door version instead of the Avant, but the work required on the V10 powertrain to meet the emissions goals hurt the business case,” Jens Koch, RS6’s project manager told InsideLine in an interview.
The 2009 Audi RS6 is powered by a 580 horsepower 5.0L V10 engine.
Although the US isn't getting the RS6, we will get the RS5, which will debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show next January. A new RS4 will follow the RS5's debut. Also if you can wait until 2012 when the next-gen RS6 is released, that is when we will get the RS6 again.

We do have it bad at the pumps......
Oh wait you live in one of those other countries, where gas is like $10 a gallon or something bad...
And your country is the size of the state I live in...
And you drive as much in a month as I drive in a week.
So really you spend less than I do per year in gas, or do you call it petrol.
I don't really like it when other countries "compare" their price to ours. It's a lot like saying a grapefruit is more expensive than an orange, and that's somehow the same... Yeah it's gas, but there are lots of factors to consider.
And I don't care if you want to bash our shitty use of land, crappy urban planning, non-walking cities and the like. I probably will agree with most of what you say.
Of course a truck probably gets better mileage than this does....well I know it would if I drove it :-)

Hey Brain
Now i can be a smart arse to.
Since I live in Australia(abouts same size as US) in a huge state NSW and we pay more for fuel and deffinately drive much further distances than you guys.
O well tobad for you guys, we probably won't get it in Australia either. Meh who cares we can get a commodore and supercharged it and it will be quicker and more powerfull anyway for 1/4 of the price with the same amount of luxury. Screw that overpirced german crap!!!!!!

well, it's an absolutely awesome car, but with petrol prices and the global economy being what it is, it is sadly becoming more irrelevant by the day
enjoy these dinosaurs while we can, they're heading for extinction

And the US gets screwed again. I don't care about gas prices. They suck everywhere! I'm just fed up with the US never getting the cool stuff. I mean come on... are we the #1 world power or aren't we? Are we Americans or American'ts?

And one more thing Luke, screw the Commodore and get a Ford Falcon!!!

What is this... the eco-Nazis and BMW driving euro-snobs who were feeling smug that the new CAFE requirements would kill their much hated trucks and SUVs and any competitive American performance cars...
They suddenly aren't feeling so smug anymore I bet. Oops.

Actually, James, even before the current financial crisis, America's growth compared to Brazil, Russia, India, and China has been sorely lacking, with our GDP growth at a little under 2% a year compared to the 7-11% growth in those countries. It is very unlikely that we will remain an engine of economic growth in the coming few decades, though we will have some influence. Gas prices everywhere will continue to increase while there are more people purchasing such commodities. And finally, I'm pretty sure Audi can see that after the implosion of Wall Street, their target audience won't be in the market for an RS6.
