Lincoln has already confirmed that the Ford Flex based MKT has received the green light for production. Well the production version of the MKT concept is set for a debut next January at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.
In addition to the new MKT, Lincoln is also going to unveil a redesigned MKZ sedan at the LA Auto Show this November.
The Lincoln MKT can be powered by either a 3.7L V6 or Ford's new 3.5L EcoBoost 3.5L V6 with an estimated 340 horsepower and 340 lb-ft. of torque.

Since there is a strong likelihood that people are going to bash this thing, allow me to be the first to say..."I like it!"
-striking lines
-strong stance
-a breath of fresh air for the US auto industry
( let's hope the gas mileage doesnt kill it off...)

I agree with rflynn88...
Bumpers people, or at least the semblance of a line.... Not this, oh it came from a late 80's bad sci-fi movie.
I hate to say this, but mid-late 90's cars might have actually been more aerodynamic then a lot of the models today.
But this thing oozes with the hallmarks of today's automobile. Flat front with no bumper, and large malformed grill, short windows with tall doors, harsh body lines that don't flow well with the overall shape of the car, a rear that no one wants to see, and enough cab forwardness to put you in the trunk. Is there some college or company churning out crappy car designers?

I have mixed emotions about it. I like the front but the back is like WTF were they thinking.
Brain the reason why modern cars have higher doors is due to safety reasons. The higher the door the more protection against side impacts. All modern cars have higher doors because of this.

how typical: hide crappy old fashioned technology with a strikingly odd exterior.
Ford/GM, your days are numbered. You can run, but not escape.
10 years from now, you'll be lucky to be a brand in the Hyundai/Tata corporations.

The other big problem with these MKT pics leaking out is that they don't really show the proportions of this thing. It's roughly the same size as the Flex, but lower. If you've seen a Flex out on the road they're huge. These proportions + the Flex's size = grotesque.
