Honda is going to officially unveil a concept version of its upcoming hybrid tomorrow (Thursday 9/04/08).
We've seen plenty of spy photos of Honda's new hybrid which has the same basic shape as the Toyota Prius, but is smaller than both the Prius and Civic hybrid. The concept version of the new hybrid will be unveiled tomorrow and have its official public unveiling at the Paris Motor Show later this month.
The production version of the new hybrid will debut at the Detroit Auto Show next January at the same time as the new Prius and the new Lexus version of the Toyota Prius. Honda's new, yet to be named hybrid is expected in dealerships next April.
Honda is hoping to sell 100,000 of the new hybrids in the US with a starting price around $19,000.
Unfortunately we still have a little longer to wait until the production version of the CR-Z concept (pictured above) is released.

19k doesn't seem to be a bad price for a new Honda, and a hybrid at that. Here's hoping it's worth a damn.
Also, I wish TR would stop posting pictures of non-applicable cars in their articles; it always confuses the silly people who don't actually read the articles.

@Jimb
I guess you were right...
@cnn
Aye, it does look sick, but it isn't their sweet Prius fighter. Supposedly, it's an electric sports car, but who knows if and when it will be released. I'd bet it will be more than $20k for sure if it has good performance.

The Japanese unlike the American's know how to compete. When they see something that the competition is doing better than they are they make a similar product. Call it copying or call it competeing, but it's been working for them. I remember when the Ford Taurus was competeing for top car sales against the Accord. Ford got off the track and never came back.

They should not release a manufacturer suggested sales price since Honda dealers will just charge more than that anyhow.

@ Tim, any dealer will upmark a new or very popular car.
But a few simple mouse clicks and keystrokes will get you a great deal on any other Honda. Email the internet sales department of every Honda dealer within 75 miles, tell them the model/trim car you want, and within a few days you'll have a bunch of good prices near listed invoice. Then call the best 2-3 and have them compete with one another. Most (if not all) dealers will even lose a few buck to make the sale and move a unit off their lot.
I helped a friend do this in January; he ended getting a 08 Civic Si for less than the MSRP on the lowly EX model.

this is the best thing gm has done in a long time. finally an american automaker wakes up and dares to challenge toyotas dominance in hybrids. this could be the big turnaround we've all been waiting for, and oh, it's a honda? never mind.

Sorry, did I ruin this for everyone? Hopefully the commercial version is a little less drastic.
