Porsche has officially released the first teaser image of the upcoming four-door Panamera Gran Turismo.
In addition to the teaser image, Porsche has also announced the Panamera Online Magazine that provides more info and videos of the upcoming Porsche sedan. Next month Porsche is going to launch an advertising campaign with double-page ads in leading news and business magazines, again offering a sneak preview of Porsche's latest model.
PRESS RELEASE:
Panamera Gran Turismo Makes its First Appearance
Stuttgart . Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is rolling the new Panamera Gran Turismo into the public limelight for the first time. Starting on 15 September, the Panamera Online Magazine is offering a wide range of information all about the latest member of the Porsche family at www.porsche.com/panamera – including videos of disguised prototypes on test drives. This is accompanied at the same time by an elaborate mailing campaign directly addressing potential customers.
The next highlight starting on 20 October is an advertising campaign with double-page ads in leading news and business magazines, again offering a sneak preview of Porsche's latest model. Indeed, even this limited view of the dynamic front end clearly proves that the four-door Panamera is a genuine Porsche all the way, the Panamera naturally benefiting from Porsche's 60 years of sports car know-how in Zuffenhausen and the driving dynamics so typical of the brand. Precisely this know-how and driving dynamics are combined in the Panamera with superior driving comfort and the Panamera's very special space concept for four adults, making the new Panamera the ideal family-friendly Gran Turismo without the slightest compromise.

Interesting... a 4-door Porsche car? Personally, if I wanted a family car, I wouldn't buy a CAR. But if I was to buy a family car, it would never be a Porsche. Any Porsche I buy will never have children set foot inside of it. Are you kidding??? That's what I want... french fries between the seats, stains on the carpet, strange pictographs drawn in crayon on the seats. For me, Porsche has always been about sports-cars, not about luxury transportation for a family or 4 adults. I'm not saying that they can't do it, and do it well. I'm just saying *MY* idea of Porsche has been about performance and speed. Perhaps is I was super-rich, I'd get a Porsche station-wagon or something. But I can only afford to have 1 Porsche in my garage, and I'll be damned if I have to compromise my concept of what a Porsche should be, just to carpool some people. Let them eat cake, and drive their OWN car!

Leave it to Porsche to have a great teaser photo compared to all the other crap ones out there...the 90% shadowed ones come to mine.
Actually, Porsche's ads have been great since the mid-90's.
I think the car will look unique...with the only the rear out of place.

ya, the rear does look out of place, and those rear seats... look pretty cramped
I like those Carrera GT wheels though...
and is there something wierd about the lighting and the shadow that the panamera casts on the ground? I'm not an expert on light or shadows, but i find that bump on the shadow a bit... strange? like theres a roof scoop... either that or i'm being wierd

@ Lamont
Couldn't agree with you more regarding YOUR idea of Porsche. However, this same opinion was put to the test when Porsche came out with an SUV of all things! That decision was a huge money maker for the company; hence it made stockholders happy! Face it, a two seat sports car (not counting the torture chamber called seats in the 911) just isn't that practical. Not to mention, a lot of people don't want/need a genuine sports car. They just want to be seen driving a Porsche because of what the brand name implies. What's lacking here is an appreciation or at least an understanding of business/capitalism. To be "successful" a company must continually grow (read: sell more stuff). Nobody wants to invest in a company whose stock will be worth the same in 5 years as it is today. Soooo, we must come up with new products to attract new buyers. Enter Cayenne, enter Panamera. Sure, I consider it a dilution of the core brand. However, if such decisions let Porsche and the 911 continue to survive in the evermore competitive automotive world then it's justifiable.

As for the shadow, the bump will simply be the roof. The rest of the shadow will be cast by the front fenders/hood. You can tell by the length of the shadow, like the light was cast from about 20 feet back, just above the height of the car.

I certainly never thought Porsche tarnished themselves by releasing an SUV.
But i do think what Porsche made from the Cayenne was assisted a bunch by absorbing design costs from making the Touareg as well. Dunno if Audi got a version of the platform.
I want to say no, but maybe a Porschephile on TR will know if Porsche has ever shared a platform before the Cayenne.

I believe they shared the 914 platform design costs with VW. The main difference, as I recall, was in the engine, 4 cylinder cars were VW - Porsche and 6 cylinder cars were Porsche - VW. More or less.

914 was with Volkswagen. Main delta was the engine.
924 was originally an Audi, but went 'live' as Porsche.
SUV was with Volkswagen. Audi doesnt have the platform.
Rest is by Porsche exclusive.

The Audi Q7 utilizes a modified version of the Volkswagen Group 7L (Touareg/Cayenne) platform, the 4L.

@Lamont:
I agree with you 150%... i thought the Cayenne was a joke. I understand that they sold fairly well and I do see a ton of them around... but then again 95% of the population is dumb and will believe anything they read or hear... too bad they won't believe this post :)
