Bugatti officially unveiled the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport a few days ago at Pebble Beach and today the first car was auctioned off by the Gooding & Company for $2.9 million.
Bidding on the roadster started at $1.7 million and ended at $2.9 million, but due to the auction premium of 10 percent the final amount that the lucky buyer will have to pay is $3.19 million.
Only 150 models are planned, with 50 going to existing Bugatti customers..so what does that mean only 99 are left.

one thing is for sure - the veyron won't go down in history in the same way the mclaren f1 did

Having driven the original model, this just improves on it. Sex on wheels. If I could, I'd have this in my garage now...but sadly, that'll never happen.
I sure hope they fixed the overheating issue...I assume they have. I remember the original grand opening at Laguna Seca, there were two that were blown up because of it.

That's cause the Veyron is a civilized car, the McLaren F1 is beastly. Well it's just a race car with the necessary road legal equipment. If all you wanted was the "experience" of driving, the raw sensation, then the F1 is all you need. But if you care about getting to your destination not sweating in the summer heat and still being about to hear you need to look else where.
